2.4 GHz not working but 5 GHz is fine

I installed a new modem/router yesterday: Motorola MG 7700.  Both bands were originally working fine.  Today, though, the 2.4 GHz band has stopped working.  I've recycled the power and done factory resets multiple times.  Still no luck.  Only the 5 GHz band is working.  Any ideas?

Access the user interface pages of the device and confirm that the 2.4 GHz band is enabled;

Yes, it's enabled, and I can sometimes see it.  When I can see it I can sometimes connect to it, and sometimes not.  But when I can connect to it the internet either isn't working or it's less than 1 MBPS down.

Thank you for patiently waiting for a response, @user_571d63.Range and coverage can be negatively impacted by many external factors such as house size, construction material, and interference material. Can you confirm if you are experiencing the same issue with the 2.4 Ghz channel while in close range to the modem?

I have the same problem.  The 2.4 just dropped, 5Ghz is fine, but some devices are really unreliable on 5Ghz.  The 2.4Ghz tab is grayed out, unavailable, cannot even check the settings.  I'm setting this up at somebody else's house, so if it's not reliable, I can't use it, period.  Pretty disappointing in a $170+ device.  I've had plenty of similarly squirrely wifi devices over the years.  I'm not prepared to deal with this at all.   Found zero answers for this online so far.
