/16 subnet not an option??
Used a netgear modem up until it died yesterday. Decided to give comcast modem a try. Prior I was running 192.168.x.x /16. Comcast modem will not let me select it, even though it is valid. This is going to cause me either great pain, or make me take it back and get a new netgear. Any way to force this dang thing to allow it to take that subnet. WHY would they block it when it is a valid range?!?!? My modem is the TG1682G.

Comcast's gateways are extremely limited as far as even slightly advanced customization features are concerned. AFAIK it is not possible to configure them for a /16 network -- they're /24 only.

I can change to the 10.x.x.x range and have /16 available...the limit of using a /16 on the 192.168.x.x network is an arbitrary limit put in place by comcast.
