1.2Tb wired data Cap in January?

Hello,
Is 1.2Tb data Cap in January real for wired customers? Or rumor?

I really hope not. Since I need the connection for work, I stream 2x 1080 sources through Teradicci remote workstations and I regularly use more than 1.4Tb in a month. We already pay $100 per month for service.

I've been happy with this service for several years now, but I am not willign to pay $25 extra for nothing.  At that point, it would actually be cheaper/better for us to get internet through cell service, since we already pay for phones, and it would cost less than $100 per month for us to upgrade to unlimited 5g, so we could just shift that expense to our cell provider.
Thanks for any info.

https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service/data now includes this:

  • Renting an xFi Gateway? Get unlimited data at no extra cost for the first 6 months with xFi Complete ...
  • Using your own modem + router? Add unlimited data for $0/mo for the first 6 months, then regular rates apply (currently $30/mo).

... If my billing cycle starts on the first of every month, when does it make the most sense to add the plan? The first day of the billing cycle? If added in the middle of the month, does a feature backdates to the beginning of the billing cycle?

See the "How can I get Unlimited Data?" link on https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/data-usage-plan.

Thank you, this is definitely more than we had before. I think the most important line at this point is this:

*After 6 months, regular rates apply (currently $25/mo). Offer expires 12/30/20.

It's not clear if it only applies to xFi offer or both, but I will go ahead and assume it's the same for both, and in order to take advantage of the 6 months offer, we have to add the option by the end of the year.

Thanks for looking it up!

My read is that the footnote applies only to:

Not already renting? Upgrade to xFi Complete which includes our xFi Gateway modem + router for $14/mo for the first 6 months.*

It is not clear whether the "Offer expires 12/30/20" applies to customer-owned equipment.

Yeah, it's not clear, but I don't want to risk it, so I already submitted my order.

Thanks again!

This a complete lack of care for their customers and they only want more money.. Comcast has amazing services, but the lack of connection with their customer is a joke. 1.2 is not enough under normal circumstances and OH YEA!! They don't pay per gb like we do..  because there is no cost for per gb for anyone but the consumer!  This is the worst news I have heard and this is a joke.  Giant company throwing their weight around that benefits NOBODY BUT THEMSELVES.  And Comcast is one of the better ISP's and still they just don't even care about how it affects us.  We just barely got a 600 dollar stimulus and now they want people to pay extra for more internet?  So many people can barely afford rent and food right now.  SHAME ON YOU COMCAST!

Thank you so much for the link @drumn_bass , the xfinity webpage that looks like it would allow you to add unlimited data only shows options that include xfinity equipment, which I am not about to do.  With your link I was still able to get the 5 month free offer, and I just signed up today (1/2), so it looks like it's still valid.
