10G Upgrade Work in my Neighborhood: , Auburn, WA
I live in the <EDIT: Removed Personal Information>neighborhood in Auburn, WA, zip <EDIT: Removed Personal Information>. Yesterday (6/20/2023) I received an email from Xfinity (Comcast) saying: "In the coming days, we'll be making improvements to the Xfinity network in your neighborhood. The goal of the work is to enhance our network to ultimately allow us to deliver multigigabit upload and download speeds. ... Our most current information has us starting work on 06/27 ... As our teams work to make these enhancements, you can expect service outages. This downtime will affect all of your Xfinity services."
I'm hoping maybe someone on this forum lives in this area and has already had this work done so you can answer these questions:
1. How long is the outage expected to last?
2. Does this involve digging or trenching up the road/shoulder?
3. Does this involve digging or trenching from the nearest cable distribution box over to my house?
4. This neighborhood / development is relatively new. Most of the houses are less than 25 years old. All of the services (gas, electric power, phone cable, etc ) are underground. my connection to comcast cable and internet is via coax coming up out of the ground near the foundation of my house. Would they changing this to fiber optic?

Hello and welcome to Comcast. Thank you so much for reaching out to us today about your concerns on our Xfinity network improvements. You are in the right place and I am happy to assist you with your concerns.
The work can sometimes take a couple of days to be marked as completed. I have not seen any digging done in my area. You can go to https://www.xfinity.com/network and see our FAQs on our Xfinity Next Generation speeds.

@bbdude
They are not converting to fiber optic to the home. They are upgrading the speed capabilities / capacity / reliabiltiy of their current hybrid fiber / coax system.

Ok thanks for the answers Roberto and EG. Just curious - What is the maximum bandwidth & data rate (TV/DVR + Voice + Internet) that can be achieved via coax?
