Xfinity streaming on a VLAN
We've got all Unifi networking gear at home and are having problems with Xfinity streaming. The main VLAN where computers, phones, and router live is 10.10.10.x. All IOT, including TVs is on 10.20.20.x. We can stream on a computer fine, but streaming does not work on IOT devices (wired or wireless). Are there port(s) I need to open between the two networks to get this to work?

Hello @mt_tucson, Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your day to leave a post on our community forum and we would be happy to help. Xfinity/Comcast residential gateways (like xFi pods or XB-series routers) do not support internal LAN VLAN configuration. To use VLANs for segmenting smart home devices or guest networks, you must use your own third-party router and set the Xfinity gateway into Bridge Mode.
1. Enable Bridge Mode on Xfinity:
To pass all traffic and VLAN tags directly to your own networking equipment:Connect your computer to your Xfinity gateway via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.Open a browser and log in to the Xfinity Admin Tool.Navigate to Gateway > At a Glance or Advanced > Bridge Mode.Change the Bridge Mode setting to Enabled and save.Once the gateway reboots, it will act solely as a modem, and you can plug your own VLAN-capable router (e.g., Ubiquiti, pfSense, Netgear) into the gateway's Ethernet port.
2. Configure VLANs on Your Own Router:
Xfinity does not supply VLAN IDs for standard internet connections, any VLAN IDs you use are entirely for your internal traffic.Setup: Log into your personal router's admin dashboard.Create VLANs: Set up distinct logical networks like a Main Network (VLAN 10), Guest Network (VLAN 20), and IoT Network (VLAN 30). Tagging: Ensure your managed switches and access points are configured for \(802.1Q\) tagging, which isolates traffic across your physical cables
