Xfinity Stream app (used in home on tv)

Does it count against your data allowance when you are streaming the Xfinity app in your home, whether on a Roku device or Samsung tv? I am talking like our local channels, or channels we pay for in the entertainment package, HGTV, Food Network, etc? I was called by an Xfinity rep that was selling me an extension on my Wifi and commenting how we come close to going over and have gone over once because of all the devices. When orginially signing up I was not infomred that there was a data cap. Anyhow, she told me if I used that app it would not count against our monthly allowance. I just called with some other questions and the rep told me all he could find was that it is streaming so it does count against the 1TB of data allowed.  Please help...

Does streaming using the Xfinity Stream app on a Partner Device count against my Internet data usage?
No. The goal of using the app on your Partner Device is to give you more options outside of our rented TV Boxes to access your full TV service within your home. The service delivered through the Xfinity Stream app is not an Internet service, so our data usage plans don't apply.

However, video services that are delivered over the Internet, like TV Everywhere content accessed via the Xfinity Stream app and web portal or content from NBC.com or the NBC and NBC Sports apps, are treated exactly the same way as any other Internet-delivered services, like Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon, and are subject to any data usage plans that might apply.

Thank you... lots of "language". Fingers crossed that what I do doesn't use data.

So I just talked to Xfinity and again was told even if we are using the Roku or our Samsung tv we are still streaming data and it will in fact go against our monthly allowance. I would like to know what these "Partner devices" are.

Thanks - I don't understand why their employees don't know this! He said it is streaming, as the name is Xfinity Stream and therefore is using data.

Roku and Samsung are examples of partner devices. An important sentence from above “ The service delivered through the Xfinity Stream app is not an Internet service, so our data usage plans don't apply.”

So I got a return phone call at (10pm!) from the rep that I spoke to yesterday and he informed me that the Samsung tv is considered a Partner Device but the Roku is NOT and will use data. I love that I am paying a company that doesn't even have the knowledge they should.
