Xfinity Stream app on Fire Stick ... gets kicked out of program and can't get back in until reset or another app is loaded

I'm using the lastest firestick and version 8.9 of Xfinity stream on that.  Have multiple TV's with Firesticks and problem exists on all.  Can be watching an Xfinity channel, doesn't matter what.   Occassionally, in the middle of watching the Xfinity App exists the channel.  When I then try to reselect the channel (any channel) the Xfinity app just cycles back to the channel selection.  It no longer plays any channel.  To fix this, I have to exit the xfinity app, then run some other app (e.g. Netflx or Ruku), then exit that and then go back into the Xfinity app.    Feels like the xfinity  Cache is messing up.  I've cleared the cache and eventually problem comes back.  I'm wondering if the app is having a problem, and since auto resume is with the fire stick, it auto resumes back to the problem area?   Any one else have this problem?

Just keeps freezing on me.  Updated both fire stick and stream app.  Uninstalled reinstalled stream.  Have not tried clearing stream cache or unplugging fire stick and plugging back into tv.

Just hit play/pause and stream resumes.  Kind of irritating though.

mike_kallet You may want to unplug the power source from the Firestick for about a minute and then plug it back in. If the problem persists after that, please let us know.

Unplugging the firestick works, but the problem comes back. It's random, sometimes several times a day, sometimes non. I'm wondering if there is a momentarily hickup in the internet or wifi connection and the xfinity app on the firestick gets into a stuck phase.  When I exit the xfinity app and run any other app, then go back into the xfinity app, all is back to normal.

mike_kallet Do you have any other firesticks in the home that exhibit the same issue?

yes and the other ones exhibit this behavior as well.  I think when there's a momentary hickup on the network, the xfinity app on the firestick kicks out the current program and the cache is such that it just can't get back in without really exiting the app (starting a new app, power cycle, etc).

I just updated my gateway from XB7 to XB8.   I'll monitor things to see if this problem continues

Have performed all suggestions with no change.  Have noticed it only freezes during a commercial break, but doesn't interrupt current show being streamed/broadcast.

Doesn't Xfinity have any real idea why this is happening as all of the suggestions/fixes they provide do not fix the problem.  Seems to have something to do with the identification of the streaming signal since it only freezes during commercial breaks.

Xfinity Stream Freezes on Amazon Fire Stick SOLVED!  And it's not Xfinity's fault.

For months the Stream App playing on my Fire Stick 3rd Generation constantly freezes.  Usually during commercial breaks and on a lot of the same commercials.  You just hit pause then play on the Fire Stick remote and broadcasting resumes.  Not hard to deal with, but after a while becomes a pain.  I have tried all posted and suggested fixes with no change.

Then about five days ago I went to the Fire Stick's settings, then Preferences and then Privacy Settings.  Then Turned Off, Internet-based adds,  Collect App Usage Data,  Device Usage Data and Manage Sharing From Apps.

It has now been five days and the Stream App has not froze one time at all.  No matter what commercials play or anything else.

Now, I don't know what if any combination of disabling those four options fixed the problem and I don't really care because I wouldn't want them enabled anyway.  Just wasn't aware of them until a YouTube video about the latest Fire Stick update.

Hope this helps  .  .  .
