Xfinity stream app freezes every night at 9:04 pm on my Samsung TV and also periodically at other times.

We had an Xfinity technician come and he checked out all our connections about 6 months ago and it still occurred the day he left and continues on to today.  (He did not seem to target in on that only the Xfintity Stream App was freezing.

I deleted the app and restalled it.

Other apps (e.g., Netflix, AppleTV, etc) do not freeze at all.

It does not seem to occur on the other TV we have which has a Xfinity box. (We use the TV rarely.)

It clearly is an issue with the Xfinity Stream App.

Thank you.

Thanks for reaching out to us. We do apologize for any inconvenience you're having with the Xfinity app on your TV.

I understand you've already uninstalled and reinstalled the app, to clarify what type of TV are you using and how close is that TV to your Internet modem?

The TV is 6 ft away from the internet modem in the same room.  The TV is a Samsung Smart TV UN50RU7100FXZA.

Thanks for clarifying. I recommend uninstalling the app again and going into your TV settings and clearing the caches and cookies. You can also try connecting an Ethernet cord to your TV and the modem to see if you're still having the same issues as that would rule out any Wi-Fi connection issues you're having in your home that could be affected by other devices running

Also, depending on your speed plan, if you have too many devices connected than your speed plan can handle, then I recommend disconnecting all other wi-fi devices and running the xfinity app on your Samsung TV as the only device connected.

For customer owned modems check device compatibility via this link https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned

Also, if you're using your own modem with a separate Wi-Fi router in connection with your modem, I would recommend running an Ethernet cable straight to your TV to your modem and not your router, to rule out any possible connection issues with your separate Wi-Fi router

I'm having trouble understanding why it would be my wifi when only the Xfinity Stream App has this issue?  Why wouldn't streaming from Netflix, Prime, Apple, etc have this issue?

When the usual freeze at 9:04 happens and most other times the freezes happen, no one else is using the wifi for anything.  We also don't have Smart appliances.

I checked our device compatibility and it is compatible but "not optimized."  We are considering upgrading but as we don't usually reach the limits we have on our plan now, I'm doubtful the freezes will stop.

I will go ahead and try some of your suggestions but I am not hopeful that any will work and I feel they will just eat up my time.  Maybe if you would explain why this could only happen with the Xfinity Stream App, it would help me feel more hopeful.

I will be more than happy to help with your request. To begin, would you mind sending me your name and the address to your account in a Direct message?

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it.

@user_y0ecep These techs won't answer logical questions, they will eventually tell you to rent a streaming box & pick it up at the comcast store.

The app CONSTANTLY freezing on a samsung TV in a bed room. All other streaming apps work flawlessly.  This TV is about 20 ft from the Router in my case, Comcast will NEVER take responsibility for anything.  It is the a horribly coded APP not your internet speed or network congestion.  They WANT their customer to have to go in to rent a cable box month, it's part of their scam.

For the record i'm on Gig speed and a have a VERY modern an uncongested network.   I have 1 comcast issued wifi stream box that works flawlessly on my account.  Guess why, cause I pay a monthly fee for it!!!
