I had this same issue, not sure how it ever ended up with the email account it was logged in with since that was NOT the account I had set it up to use to begin with. The steps stated did not "exactly" work. I wasn't able to change anything directly on the TV.
I had to log out of Peacock on my TV first. Then I had to log into the Peacock website on my PC.
On the website I told it to change the email address and then entered the correct address. I then logged out and logged back in using the correct address on the PC and that looked OK and my Peacock account was now showing as a Premium account.
Then I went to the TV, started the Peacock app and logged in using the correct account.
