World Cup Audio

Just stereo, not Atmos.  Stream had Atmos during the Olympics.  Why back to stereo for the World Cup?

Hello, BIslander! Xfinity Stream supports Dolby Atmos, but it is currently limited to specific content. Always check the program details in your guide to see if a specific event, movie, or broadcast supports Dolby Atmos. Check out this informative article for more info. Use Dolby ATMOS with Xfinity X1

Yes.  I am asking why no Atmos on the biggest sporting event in the world. Xfinity has Atmos on X1, but not on Stream.

I have a 5.1.4 layout using a Denon X3800H AVR.  I get Atmos from my XG1v4 DVR, LG OLED G2, Fire Cube 3rd Gen, and two 4K disc players.  The AVR reports getting 2.0 audio from the Stream apps on the LG and Fire Cube.  I received Atmos from those apps using the same equipment during the Olympics.

BIslanderThe Xfinity Stream apps does support for 5.1 surround sound can vary based on the device platform and the content being streamed. Generally speaking, sound will be provided in standard stereo for most programming. This is not determined by us but by the network itself. Generally, the following device platforms are known to support 5.1 surround sound Xfinity X1 Box: This is typically the most reliable platform for accessing surround sound through Xfinity Stream.
Xfinity Flex Box: It also supports 5.1 surround sound when available.
Certain Smart TVs: Some models from brands like Samsung, LG, and Vizio may support 5.1 surround sound if configured correctly.
Apple TV (4th Generation and newer): Surround sound support is available on newer Apple TV models.
Amazon Fire TV (4K and newer models): Some Fire TV devices support 5.1 surround sound, depending on the app and content.
Roku Devices: Select Roku models may support 5.1 surround sound.

Note: 4K live events are also commonly available in surround sound, depending on the device being used for the stream app.

Again, the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in theft world.   It is produced in Atmos and distributed in Atmos on many platforms and apps, including by Xfinity on X1.  Disappointing that Stream only does stereo, especially since we know the app is Atmos capable.
