Unable to Forward While Recording

I am unable to fast forward when watching a program that is currently recording. This feature was working prior to the update. I have a Samsung TV. The model # is QN65S9ODDFXA.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, as well as, hard restarting the TV.

I see that others with different TV brands/models are having this issue as well.

I tried this yesterday. It is still not working on Samsung TVs. What is the status?

Thanks for the update. I know it’s frustrating to still be dealing with this after troubleshooting yesterday.
As an additional check, please make sure your TV  and Xfinity Stream app are fully updated and compatible. You can confirm your TV’s model and current software version under Settings > Support > About This TV. (2018–2026 listed; 2017 no longer supported) You can also try signing out of the Xfinity Stream app and signing back in if you haven’t already.

Hello user_uhoksi! We appreciate you reaching out to our Xfinity Forum. My team is here to support you. I am sorry to hear you're also running into this issue on your end. For troubleshooting purposes, is this happening on all recordings or just particular ones?

XfinityAmira,  This issue has now been reported by many users and your engineering department has already acknowledged that this is a real issue with ALL recordings that you are attempting to watch in a bowser on a computer before the recording has completed.    How about telling us when we can expect this to be fixed?   DO NOT tell us that you have no updates at this time.  This is a high priority issue for the many people who are experiencing it, and I'm sure that your engineering department has got some sort of schedule on when they intend to fix it.  Please report back to us when we can expect it to be fixed.

Regarding the loss of our DVR control when watching in progress recordings, Has anyone received an actual update? Has anyone had it fixed or found a better workaround than the delete, Restart recording, recover process? I think Xfinity is not being open and honest with us. I can't help thinking Xfinity knows exactly what they have done and they are simply stonewalling the users. I noticed when the issue first cropped up that at least one of my browsers (Firefox) asked/forced me to accept a download of Google Windvine software which appears to be related to copyright issues. I would suspect that content providers have an interest in whether viewers are watching their programing and skipping commercials or watching only portions. Did Xfinity drop the ball here and is now hanging us out to dry.

I have been watching this forum since Oct. 8 and nobody using a browser on a PC has reported a fix. I now believe that the functionality will not return. What are our alternatives here, do the large streaming sports platforms let you record and fast forward when the event is live? I have been with Comcast for so long mostly for sports and the ability to skip commercials, don't really know what else is out there.

I believe xfinity knows exactly what they are doing by not responding to people who are frustrated with their broken streaming service, not owning up to the problem, and dragging their feet to fix the problem. They realized viewers fast forward through commercials, and their reluctance to repair the problem is tantamount to forcing us us to watch commercials and any content we wish to skip. I still resort to using a smaller screen IOS to watch recorded shows I wish to advance through quickly, but I hate that I've been forced to do so. Xfinity will go the way of the dinosaur if they perpetuate their offensive practice of force feeding their customers.

I agree, they should have fixed it by now.  You tube TV works. You can watch while the game is being recorded. I think Hulu live works too.

@user_jrw86 I emailed their executive team, was told to supply my info and that I'd be contacted within a few hours or at the latest the next day, and that was...about 4.5 days ago with no phone call or email contact returned. Once I'm running errands near an Xfinity store in the future, I plan to move to the option you mentioned.

Like online dating, promises broken. I guess our engagement is over, Xfinity. I thought you loved me, with all of your promises for our future together. But you stabbed me in the back and cheated on me with your ex. And when I called you out on it you told me it wasn't you, it was me. And that I needed to refresh myself. And that maybe my HDMI wasn't transmitting correctly. And that if I cleaned my cache once in a while you might still be in love with me. Well, I did those things and you still cheated on me with your ex. Is it my coax? Or is it my Cat5 and you want Cat6? What is it? Well, I guess we're over then, Xfinity. But if I'm being honest, looking back on it now, it's weird I fell in love with a cable company anyway. I guess corporations are people too, according to the Supreme Court, so I thought I was being edgy and progressive by dating a corporation. I thought we might make the news together. The first human and corporation marriage. I bought you a ring and everything. And you took it and then dumped me. I'm hurt. But I'll never forget our moments together. Our arguments when you threw APPS and RDK errors at me and I cussed you out. Those moments where we let the technicians join us in therapy to sort things out between us. They almost always sided with me, and you'd work for a bit after those sessions, but then you'd start acting all weird again. I'll be OK, Xfinity, and I hope you have a great future, too.

@jdawg90  funny, but so sadly a very true analogy.  complete betrayal for "new and exciting" third party revenue over loyal paying users.  quite short sighted and pathetic to watch.  this comedic toned post will go viral eventually and will be highlighted at comcast's funeral (or bankruptcy sale or takeover by skydance/etc) IMO.  too bad they just don't care about us actual paying users anymore.  C-Suite elite doesn't care about me, a lowly original company-building customer, anymore.  30+ years, not valued at all anymore.  feeling used and hearbroken.....

(and... on a very good and important point you brought up... a corporation is NOT "a person" and should not have ANY voting/political/donation rights, especially not the ability to spend endless amounts of money to buy politicians.  that single decision was the beginning of the end of America, a unique country that was created by geniuses in 1776 to put the rights of every little individual ahead of the rich and powerful elite authoritarians.  a government to serve the people, not rule the people.  to protect the weak from the bullying of the stronger and luckier in life.)

I am also considering canceling. It is so frustrating. We have tried every single troubleshooting option available. You can’t even watch a game if you start late. This is absolutely ridiculous

I have the same issue both on my Samsung TV and on all Windows computers. Comcast is well aware of the issue from the responses in this thread and others.

Comcast ... can someone in your tech group (not you front line support) give us a definitive status and progress update on this promised fix?

So I made a comment on this thread in early October stating that an (advanced team) Xfinity tech had told me the issues were slated to be fixed by October 10th.

Well, that time has long passed and we all are still stuck.

I wanted to ask all that have commented here about an email I got from Xfinity yesterday describing a new Stream app that was rolling out and it said "The new look arrives on its own over the next several months."

Dollars to donuts says they were beta testing the new app sometime in late August judging by the dates of some of the posts on this thread (my issues started on or about October 1st), and they changed something on the web based streaming portal. They may not have known about the negatives until sometime after that but they definitely know now, and the problem we're all experiencing must be tied to another change that they can't easily roll back because it will mess up something else more important. Who knows at this point. We know it's a problem, they know it's a problem. Why can't we just get it resolved?

My point here is that for 2 months techs and online agents have known our issues and as it turns out they are rolling out a new stream app that probably instigated the whole thing, not that anyone from Xfinity would ever admit that.

So we wait. And sulk. Like some of you, I have been researching leaving Comcast after 20+ years and it's not something I want to be doing. I have used the published workaround by deleting an in progress recording and watching that way, but it is a hassle I shouldn't have to do for all the $$$ I pay Comcast every month.

Sorry for the rant. I'm just frustrated is all.

Don’t be sorry. We are all frustrated. Some of us, like myself, have stopped ranting because it does no good, but I feel like ranting one more time - not that it will do any good.
For a month or so, I’ve been unable to watch 2 shows on CNBC that I’ve recorded for years with Xfinity Stream. I now have to watch them on my little 9 inch IPad because I haven’t been able to jump in late and fast forward through commercials and content that doesn’t interest me on my HP laptop anymore. I used to be able to view these shows, and some sports recordings, on a 27” monitor via an HDMI cord connected to my HP laptop at my desk. Can’t anymore. Thank god for IOS devices! I shouldn’t have to be forced to do this though . I pay $348/mth to comcast for their triple bundle of TV, Internet and Home phone. The TV and home Phone work great. The internet works well, with the exception of the Streaming feature and the seemingly permanent fast forward SNAFU. I feel sorry for NFL and NBA fans who record games and can’t hop past the endless commercials.
