TVAPP-00227 when trying to stream St Louis Blues games on NHL Center Ice

The Title says it all. I am unable to stream any Blues games on NHLCenter Ice. It doesn’t matter if it is a Home or Away game feed.

Hey there drewm05 🙌 Thanks for taking the time to reach out in the community with your concerns. I know how important it is for me to catch my Sharks in real time, so I definitely want to make sure you're not missing on Blues games on your end! Can you start by letting me know how you're accessing Xfinity Stream when watching the games normally?

@XfinitySeth I normally access Xfinity Stream on my LG TV. I can access NHL Center Ice for every other team but any Blues games not on a National broadcast. When I select the Blues channel during non game times, I get the same opening splash screen as all other teams.

I had the same issue last season and Comcast/Xfinity had no resolution. This occurred around the same time when "Bally Sports" tv had their financial "issues" and affected multiple markets. When I was at a Blues game last season, I had asked other fans how they watch Blues games, and they all said they had to use "Fanduel". This leads me to believe that either I am in a "blackout" area, (I live in Kansas City), or Blues games are not broadcast at all on Center Ice. If this is the case, then it should clearly explained that "not all 32 teams" are broadcast on Center Ice.

@drewm05 - That's a frustrating situation, especially since you experienced it last season. The error code and your location strongly suggest a regional blackout issue related to the St. Louis Blues' local broadcasting rights. Here's a breakdown of the likely reasons and information:

📍 Regional Blackouts and NHL Center Ice
- Kansas City is in the St. Louis Blues' home market for regional broadcasts. Even though you are in Kansas City and not St. Louis, the NHL designates regional broadcast territories for each team. The Blues' territory historically includes large parts of Missouri and Kansas, and sometimes even other surrounding states.

- NHL Center Ice (an out-of-market package) blackouts are enforced in a team's local market. The entire purpose of NHL Center Ice is to show games for teams other than the one designated as local to you. If you are in the Blues' home territory, the Blues' regional games are blacked out on Center Ice.

- The games you can't stream are their regional broadcasts. The games you can watch for the Blues are likely national broadcasts (on ESPN, TNT, etc.), which are not subject to the regional Center Ice blackout.

📺 Local Broadcast Channel for the Blues
- The local broadcaster for the St. Louis Blues is FanDuel Sports Network (formerly Bally Sports Midwest/Fox Sports Midwest).

- Since you live in the designated market, your games are expected to be watched on the local Regional Sports Network (RSN), which is now FanDuel Sports Network.

- The fact that other fans mentioned FanDuel (or its prior names) supports the idea that this is the channel that holds the exclusive in-market rights for those games.

⚠️ TVAPP-00227 Error
- The Xfinity error code TVAPP-00227 is frequently associated with a "location issue" or being unable to play a video within the current market. This error perfectly aligns with the enforcement of a blackout rule based on your IP address/service address in the Kansas City market.

✅ Summary of Your Situation
1. You are in the St. Louis Blues' local broadcast market (Kansas City).

2. The Blues' games (that aren't national broadcasts) are exclusively shown by the FanDuel Sports Network in your region.

3. NHL Center Ice is an out-of-market package, and per league rules, it is required to black out the local team's games in their home market.

4. The TVAPP-00227 error is our way of telling you a blackout rule is being enforced because of your location.

In short, your belief is correct: Blues games that are not on a national broadcast are being blacked out on Center Ice in your market because Kansas City is considered the Blues' home territory for regional TV rights. I'm sorry for any confusion or frustration, and I hope this helps!
