rewind and fast forward on DVR

I used to be able to rewind and fast forward (already recorded portions) on DVR while recording live TV on Streaming App. on Smart TV

Now when I try to do so it goes back to the beginning of the show.

Sources tell me this is a known Xfinity issue.

Despite Topic below this is not about the website.

Hello user_7mgy20 Does this recording behave the same way when accessing this from the X! cable box or other devices, or is this only happening on your Smart TV? What brand/make is the TV, and is this a newer or older device?

Why do all of you always ask about X1 when I only stream?  The TV is new enough that this has never happened before. Most important research shows this is a KNOWN Xfinity issue. Your tech team needs to fix this.

X1 playback and Xfinity Stream are connected within our systems, which is why we are asking for that clarification. If the issue is present with both, this would point to a larger issue for us to tackle. We'd love to assist further with personal account troubleshooting and reporting to our advanced teams as needed.

Please send a direct message by clicking the chat icon in the upper right corner of the page, clicking on the pen and paper icon, and then entering “Xfinity Support” in the “To” section. Please include your name and address, and we can get started anytime.

First, not going to start over re-explaining this. Second, since this is a known issue that you seem unaware of, troubleshooting one account seems useless. Just fix the entire streaming DVR.

user_7mgy20 I apologize, but there is not currently a known issue matching what you are describing. We do have a list of reported/known issues that is actively being addressed by our engineering team, and currently there are no DVR fast-forward or rewind issues. That is why we started the line of questioning and requested that you reach out in private. If other members are also having the same issue, we recommend that they reach out as well, so it can be a documented known issue if we are not able to resolve it for you. I look forward to working with you in private so we can better assist you.

I am having the same issue.  When I try to watch a recording that is still in the process of recording, for example a I start recording a football game at 7pm and then try to start watching it at 7:45 while it is still recording, it will not allow me to fast forward.  It starts playing the recording from 7pm, but every time I try to fast forward it restarts the program at 7pm.  This has been going on for over a month.  I've used your chat multiple times, spoke with multiple people, was promised call backs that never happened and the issue is still not resolved.  Yes, I've tried deleting and reloading the App...it is a problem across multiple devices, not just my Samsung TV.

Thanks for confirming I am not the only one.

@user_7mgy20

Thanks for reaching out to us. In regard to the Xfinity Stream app, you can rewind cloud DVR recordings on demand, but you can't rewind live TV. If you're looking to be able to pause Fast forward live TV, you need to take advantage of using our X1 DVR.

With our new simplified TV plans, you can actually get the DVR free, as it's included with our simplified TV plans as well as 300 hours of cloud DVR storage,

This is not my issue.  My issue is not being able to fast forward DVR recordings until the recording is completed.  While it is still recording, if I try to watch, it will not allow me to fast forward

@XfinityOrlandoM You have the issue completely wrong. And I have 300 hours of DVR.

Everything I described was possible on Streaming App before. I could always Rewind and Fast Forward while recording. It just started going back to beginning on both about a month ago.

Good morning @user_7mgy20 we would be happy to troubleshoot your account with you. We would need access to your account to troubleshoot.

@user_xvznzq you are replying at the wrong spot. You need to reply right under an xfinity response.

I posted 5 weeks ago about the same issue. There are many others like it. I think we deserve an honest, transparent explanation about what is being done to fix it. Please do not ask for direct messaging or to request a service appointment. If the issue is currently being investigated and xfinity is actively working on solutions, give us a timeline. I think this is a fair request.

Unable to Forward While Recording

I am unable to fast forward when watching a program that is currently recording. This feature was working prior to the update. I have a Samsung TV. The model # is QN65S9ODDFXA.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, as well as, hard restarting the TV.

I see that others with different TV brands/models are having this issue as well.

XfinityAlfonso does know much because indeed the issue described is widespread. I just connected a new Samsung to the Xfinity Stream app and having the exact same problem plus you can’t fast forward or rewind and review progress. It just jumps ahead or backward while you have to guess where to stop it. Useless. An Ai search immediately generates a response of a known Xfinity issue. Known to all apparently but “Alfonso”! Doesn’t give you much hope that Xfinity is actually working to fix it.

I posted 5 weeks ago about the same issue. There are many others posts/comments about the same exact issue happening with other tv brands and laptops. The issue is independent of the device it is installed on. I think we deserve an honest, transparent explanation about what is being done to fix it. Please do not ask for direct messaging or to request a service appointment. If the issue is currently being investigated and xfinity is actively working on solutions, give us a timeline. 1) Delete recording.

2) Go back to Live, select the program and start recording again.

3) Go to Saved/Recordings, at the bottom of the list, you'll find Deleted Recordings the latest of which is the one you just deleted - select Recover.

4) You now have 2 partial recordings of your program (hopefully without much lost in between) - but the first part will now function as a completed program allowing you to RWD/FF as normal.

@sayheykid I will try that. But will the restored keep recording?

No. You have to start a new recording where the initial one left off.

@sayheykid then what's the point?  You cannot keep fast forwarding bit by bit to live. You have to go to the new recording which has the same problem.
