Peacock show starts in slow motion

For the past week, when I try and watch a Peacock show, the show is in slow motion and the words in closed caption are mixed with other words. If I let it continue to play for a few minutes, then exit the show, exit Peacock then start all over, the video is fine. Commercials are always fine. Just the show won't play correctly unless I restart Peacock.

Hello @sheryltoo66, thank you for taking the time to leave a post. Sorry to hear you’re having trouble while watching Peacock. That’s definitely frustrating. To help narrow things down, can you let us know if you’re watching Peacock through your Xfinity cable box or on a third-party device? Also, have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far, other than closing and reopening the app?

I'm watching on my cable box. The only other trouble shooting I did was to reset the box but that didn't help.

@sheryltoo66, thank you for providing the additional steps that you have taken. Is this slow playback happening only in this app, or have you noticed it with other streaming apps as well? As a quick troubleshooting step, could you try unplugging your modem from the power outlet for about 30 seconds, then plugging it back in? Once everything is fully back online, please try playing a show again and let us know if it’s still playing slowly.

I unplugged our modem and tried Peacock and it was working fine. I don't know if having watched a show on Peacock less than an hour ago has anything to do with it working ok. I watch one particular Peacock show every weekday so I'll know better if that fixed it next Monday and hopefully your suggestion did the trick. Thanks for your help.

@XfinityRaf Apparently resetting the router last week didn't correct my problem. As I mentioned in a previous posting, I watch a weekly show and when I tried to watch it yesterday, the video still started off in slow motion and I had to restart it in order to get it to play correctly.

I also have issues with the Peacock app buffering speed. It’s so slow that it’s unwatchable and like OP the captions are illegible. I’ve had to use other apps like Tubi if the show is available. Also restarting the box doesn’t help, nor rebooting the router.
