Paramount+

I’m writing because Paramount+ has very poor streaming quality on my Xfinity service, even though all my other streaming apps work perfectly. Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and other platforms play in HD or 4K with no issues, so this does not appear to be a home network or equipment problem.

The issue is specific to Paramount+ when using Xfinity.

Please investigate the following:

• Whether there is a routing or peering issue between Xfinity and Paramount+
• Whether there is any throttling, congestion, or packet loss affecting Paramount+ streams
• My modem signal levels, line quality, and provisioning
• Any known problems in my area with Paramount+ traffic

I pay for high-quality streaming, and currently Paramount+ is not usable through Xfinity. I would appreciate a clear explanation and a resolution.

Thank you.

@XfinityVictor I am also having serious (unwatchable) issues on Paramount when I watch on my tv. Netfliz and Prime work flawlessly, yet Paramount + is absolutely horrible. Why is this happening? What is XFINITY doing about this ? It has gotten progressibely WORSE over the past 2 weeks.

@user_kfsdhr Thanks for adding to the thread. What happens when you try to enjoy the app?

@COOKBOOK1 it is not you. There is something wrong with the Paramount + App on the Xfinity X1 cable boxes. The resolution is terrible and grainy. I have a Sony Smart TV in the same Internet as my cable box and the picture is crystal clear on the same shows on Paramount +.

@Xfinity Support  this is happening across your platform for the Paramount + App. Any feedback ?

Why has Xfinity not fixed this yet.  With the money it costs for their services this should not be an issue.  I paid for the paramount plus hd subscription and I get to watch ufc fights in standard definition.  It looks like my tv picture from 1990

Hi there, @user_slh9im! Thanks for reaching out about the picture quality while using the Paramount+ app. I watched the UFC fight last Saturday and it came through crisp and clear. We are glad to further help so you see the same in your home. What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

This link shows our different TV box styles, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-hub-vs-companion-box. Are you using the XG1v1 (it has a clock on the front of the TV box). I ask because those TV boxes do not support the apps as well and we recommend upgrading to a newer box like the XG1v3 or XG1v4 (if you have a 4K TV).

@user_slh9im same. It claims surround and HD and you get 480p and stereo. I am told this is a known issue.

@Xfinity Support I was told in a private DM that Paramount + currently has a memory issue on Xfinity Cable Boxes. Engineering is working on it.

This issue happens on most X1 Boxes. Only solution is to use the Paramount App on a different platform like Roku.

Just got back to watching Paramount+ on Xfinity. It either "times out"  after playing a show for a minute or two or just sits with a frozen screen.

It's not the app, as that works fine.  Definitely an Xfinity problem (or they're intentionally throttling it down).
