Online Sports viewing, e.g.: watching first half while recording the second half

This is not a question, rather, providing info on a workaround for online viewing of, say, a sporting event, while away from home. Scenario: you are away from home and want to view your hometown NFL football team's game.  You can set a recording on your X1 and wait for it to complete, then view it online or you can watch the completed recording of the first half while the second half is recording. 

Here's how:  at home before leaving: set a manual recording for the first hour or whatever, then set a second recording to cover the remainder of the game or any variation thereof. 

On the road:  set the recording via remote app, via either mobile or online Stream.  It is now one hour into the game; cancel the recording and delete it; then start a new recording; now recover the deleted recording---you can now watch this portion online. 

Took me awhile to figure this out, hope it helps others.
