High-Tier Account Glitch / Apple TV App Crash Loop (out-of-home.title)

I downloaded the Xfinity Stream app for the first time yesterday Tuesday (7/14/26). I attempted to sign into the official Xfinity Stream app on my fully compatible Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen (Model A2843), but have been unsuccessful. After completing the ://xfinity.com sequence on my local home network, the Apple TV app displays a raw script crash error (out-of-home.title / out-of-home.message) and immediately loops back to the sign-in screen. The screen shows "Sign In", but doesn't allow signing in.

In effort to correct the problem, I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the application multiple times, safely restarted the Apple TV hardware to clear local cache files, verified location and privacy settings are set properly, and power-cycled my network modem.  All of these efforts were unsuccessful.

I then contacted Front-line customer technical support yesterday Tuesday (7/14) where the technician correctly stated that the Apple TV Model A2843 device is incompatible. Xfinity's live support documentation states that the Xfinity Stream app requires an Apple TV 4K running tvOS 18 or later. Model A2843 is an Apple TV 4K device that runs the required software and is technically compatible. I informed the technician of this information, but was told that I would need to get a Xumo device from an Xfinity service center. After nearly 1.5 hours on the phone, the technician was unable to help.

I believe this problem (raw script crash error, out-of-home.title / out-of-home.message) is a back-end authentication mismatch where the streaming server is falsely identifying my Apple TV box as being outside of my home network signature. I think I need a Tier 3 technician to perform a full UDB (User Database) Refresh on my profile, clear out any historical hardware tokens, and force sync my current active modem's MAC address with my streaming video billing entitlements. Can I please get some help resolving this matter?

@user_lp8v2o Thanks for letting us know about this issue you are having with the Xfinity Steam app and your Apple TV. Right now, this looks to be an issue we are currently working on getting resolved, and we hope to have it fixed here shortly.

No success thus far.

@user_lp8v2o, thank you for your reply. Per the response from XfinityMichaelC on 7/16 @ 0941 of (strangely not shown here, but received via email), "This issue should now be resolved. Please let us know if you continue to have issues.", I again downloaded the Xfinity Stream app on my Apple TV 4K (running tvOS 18 or later) Model A2843 and again encountered the same raw script crash error, out-of-home.title / out-of-home.message.

I suspect this has been an ongoing problem for years and consequently, since certain corrective actions have not been taken to allow the Xfinity Stream app to work on newer current Apple TV devices, I think I'm at the point of being forced to cancel my Xfinity account after being a loyal customer for over 17 years.

This is unfortunate, but seems to be the proper action I must take. I think if the folks at Xfinity truly care about their customers, then they would do everything possible to support the customer and not force the customer to use their Xumo boxes which I think is the overriding reason why the Xfinity Stream app doesn't work on Apple TV devices other than old models of 2015, 2017, and 2021. If my assumptions are inaccurate, then please show me the evidence. Thanks.

user_lp8v2o I apologize that you are still having issues. The issue is reportedly resolved, but if you are still having issues, I would be happy to help make sure this is addressed for you. While there is a known issue with something, if we attempt to troubleshoot, everything is pointed back to the known issue, but now that it has been resolved, we can better assist. Let me know if you would like me to further assist.

Hi XfinityAmandaB. Thank you for your reply. You indicated that the problem is resolved when it is NOT resolved as I just reported again moments again. If the problem was resolved, then I wouldn't be reaching out for help and resolution.

If this issue has been resolved for other customers in the past who also have been using newer Apple TV devices (like my Model A2843), then please provide the necessary steps to be taken by me or Xfinity to resolve the problem I am currently dealing with. Thanks,

user_lp8v2o I think there may be some confusion about the cause of the issues. When these issues happen that are not resolved by basic app troubleshooting, we normally have to escalate the issue to our engineering team. If they are not able to locate a cause on our side, they have to work with the manufacturers of the impacted device, in this case Apple. We have found in the past that, due to some of Apple's security restrictions that get updated frequently with new IOS versions, they can block access to some of our apps, including the Xfinity Stream app.

The previous issues were resolved by our engineering team working with Apple to create an update either on our side of the impacted app or Apple's side for iOS. So there is no troubleshooting or steps for you to try as part of that resolution other than ensuring everything is up to date. That is why I mentioned that if you are still having an issue, we would have to look more into it with you; it seems your specific issue may not be related to the known issue.

XfinityAmandaB, given that the Xfinity website (per the following link) shows that newer models of the Apple TV devices after the year 2021 are not supported, this seems to indicate that the Xfinity engineering team is NOT currently working with Apple to create an update for the Xfinity Stream app.

Xfinity Link (supported Apple TV Devices): https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/stream-on-apple-tv-overview

The problem of the raw script crash error, out-of-home.title / out-of-home.message should be a simple fix that would never take Xfinity five years to fix if it was seeking to support old or new customers. What are your recommendations? Thanks.

I’ve been running into the exact same issue, but with an A2169, which is supposedly still a supported device. Both app and Apple TV are up to date, tried multiple reinstalls but to no avail.
