Favorite Channels, I am logged out every time I switch to another browser tab and return. Only happens in Firefox

Subject: Request for Engineering Escalation — Xfinity Stream Logs Out on Firefox Tab Switch

I’m experiencing a reproducible authentication failure on Xfinity Stream in Firefox that does not occur in Chrome on the same PC, network, or account.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Sign in to xfinity.com with “Keep me signed in” checked.

  2. Navigate to Stream → Live TV → Favorite Channels.

  3. Switch to another browser tab and return to Xfinity Stream.

  4. The page redirects to the login screen, even after only a few seconds.

Environment: Windows 10, Firefox 158.0/158.0.1. Chrome works correctly under the same conditions. Wired static IPv4; no VPN.

Technical evidence: Firefox Network Monitor shows the Stream authentication endpoint (xerxes-sub.xerxessecure.com) returning HTTP 302 to oauth.xfinity.com, which then redirects to login.xfinity.com. The OAuth request is a top-level navigation and includes the existing authentication cookies. No HTTP 401 or 403 responses appear in the captured redirect chain.

I have already cleared site data, verified cookie settings, disabled Enhanced Tracking Protection for the relevant sites, disabled Firefox's Global Privacy Control setting, updated Firefox, and verified the system clock. The problem persists.

Request: Please escalate this case to the Xfinity Stream web engineering or identity/OAuth team to investigate why the xfinity-stream-login OAuth flow rejects or fails to recognize the existing session in Firefox following a tab switch.

This does not appear to be a routine password or cookie-clearing issue. I can provide a timestamped Network Monitor capture and a sanitized HAR file if needed.

Please provide a case number and confirm whether this can be referred to the appropriate engineering team.

yossarrian Thanks for reaching out to us about your issue with Firefox logging you out repeatadly. I would be happy to do some troubleshooting with you, and get a ticket to the advanced team to assist if needed with you. Since the issue started have you cleared the cache and cookies for Firefox to see if just some old saved data is causing the problem?

Same issue here.  Clearing cache does not matter.

Having the same problem. Clearing the cache (which is necessary every few hours) itself also causes logout, and clearing cookies does not fix the issue. The common timing of this issue for multiple users, combines with not being correlated to a browser update, would rule out a problem in the browser and point to a regression in your web site.

I am having the same issue as well.  Clearing cache does not do anything.  Please provide a response/fix.  My recent experience with the Xfinity forum is that fixes/responses are promised and nothing happens no matter how many times a response is requested.  Check all the posts on recent firestick issues – promises of fixes and responses, yet never receive any.

@XfinityEricB Hi,

Did you read my post before responding? I mentioned that I had cleared the cache to no effect. I also mentioned that I upgraded firefox, and that didn't work.

The problem has been reported in these forums multiple times, and is also captured over at the Mozilla forums. Tech support from Xfinity and Mozilla have made a number of non-functional suggestions as work-a rounds. Btw, the problem is more than switching tabs. If you change "focus" from the browser (ie open or switch to another desktop app, or just minimize/maximize the Firefox browser that has Xfinity tab) will result in the same bug.

Well I guess Xfinity and Firefox have to play the blame game for the next few weeks until someone steps up and fixes their code. We all suffer having to switch to anyone browser just to watch on the Xfinity "over-priced" service.

158.0.1 Constant logouts from xfinity.com/stream in windows new, works in Chrome
