Constant login

All of a sudden, in the last two weeks, I am having to login to XFinity 6 times a day even though I check the stay logged in chkbox.  I used to only have to login a half dozen times a year (or so rarely that I never had an issue.)  Now I am going crazy constantly having to login.  I am using FireFox but it is not the default browser.  What is going on?  What has changed in the last two weeks?

I think it is a Firefox problem.  I changed to Edge for this function, and the problem is not there anymore.  But I hate Edge and would rather use Firefox.

Thank you so much for sharing those details with us, @cbcX! I will certainly document the feedback regarding Fire Fox with the login troubles as we are always wanting to improve our customers experience. I would recommend continuing to use Edge for the time being, and then attempt Fire Fox in the future for the login issues. Please let us know if you have any other questions/concerns, we are happy to help!

@cbcX Agreed. The problem doesn't seem to occur using Edge. I hate having to use Edge, too. If an application (Xfinity streaming) is supposed to work with internet browsers, I think it is up to application developer to make sure it works with all major browsers. When I worked in web app development, we either made sure our apps worked universally or if a browser didn't have some feature we were using, we let them know what they needed to supply that feature. Not that I expect that to happen in this situation.

As soon as the "tab" focus changes the bug is executed. Same "focus" bug is executed even if a new browser window is opened, using just a single tab to view the Xfinity Streaming content. Just change your focus to another desktop app and back to the browser and the content switches back to the sign-in page.

Result: There Is No Configuration Workaround

Because this is caused by a core change in how the browser binary handles process focus and cross-site token validation, no setting, flag, or extension within Firefox 158 (and higher) can prevent it. The browser is doing exactly what its new code tells it to do when it loses focus, and Xfinity's fragile authentication wrapper cannot handle it.

The only way to stream right now without a forced logout is to use a browser with a different engine architecture—like Chrome, Edge, or Brave—until Mozilla or Xfinity rewrites the focus handshake code.

@user_zwe4nj I have to contradict your findings - this is NOT a Firefox regression. I was using an older version of Firefox - I believe Firefox 144 - when this issue started hitting me at the same time as everyone else. I have since updated to 158, which unsurprisingly did not change the issue.

@user_zwe4nj  thank you SO MUCH for your expertise and ability to articulate this issue that hopefully someone at xfinity will work on (maybe with mozilla too?).  we can only hope and pray.

it's been over a month for the "live-recording playback issue on windows" and i thought that was maddening enough.  now i can't leave the Stream tab/window and do anything else without being logged out and starting over again.  grrrrrrrrrrr

This exact issue is happening to me.  Also using firefox. It keeps me logged in on xfinity.com but the streaming portal constantly requires a new login, even after the checking the "keep me logged in" box.  Reset password and still happening.

Good afternoon user_y49sux thanks so much for reaching out here and adding your voice to the conversation here on our Forums! Is this issue still occurring for you? This does sound like more of a browser concern - have we tried clearing your browser history, cache, and cookies, using an alternate browser, or

in-private/incognito browsing?

Thius answer is totally inadequate. There should be no reason to be constantly deleting the cache on any browser just to get this to work. Absolutely ridiculous answer. To have to delete the cache every time you want to log in to Xfinity is idiotic.

Same thing here. If I have multiple tabs open in Firefox and one is xfinity streaming, if I look at another tab and then go back to the streaming tab, it closes the streaming session and requires another login. Interestingly, it doesn't seem to happen if I'm using Edge.

Same, can't even switch tabs without getting kicked off and forced to log back in. This is a very recent problem and extremely annoying!

Sounds to me like this is an Xfinity problem. I get the same thing. Absolutely annoying. No problem with staying logged on to other sites. That in itself indicates XFINITY issue that they refuse to fix. I see these complaints all over the internet about logging in to Xfinity.

You are absolutely right!!  Xfinity has no problem raising their fees EVERY YEAR!!  Just don't expect them to fix any problems!!

Exact same problem. Being on Firefox and going to any other tab automatically logs out and forces a new sign-in. Why don't you try fixing your [Edited: "Inappropriate Language"], Xfinity?

same problem for me on windows/firefox.  they still have not fixed the "live recording playback problem for windows/browser users", but they have now somehow created a new problem with login "requirements" and leaving a tab or window.  un.  be.  lievable.
