Choppy playback of recorded shows on Streaming platform

At home (FL) I have a Fire TV and use the streaming app for watching live TV and recorded programming.  Have had no problems.  My device is not wired into my TV.  Using streaming app for all programming.  Mid May we relocated to our summer home in Michigan.  Here we use a FireStick as the TV unit is not a smart TV.  Use the streaming app same as at home but now the playback of the recorded shows is very poor.  Skips a lot in both audio and video.  Very hard to watch some recordings.  Live TV and on demand work fine.  Just the recorded shows have a problem.  I have seen other posts about this problem that ended with replacing the DVR unit. I have remotely rebooted both the Modem and TV box with no help.  I am not a computer expert but it seems that with my using the Cloud DVR system that the unit itself should not be the problem.  Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
