Can't watch NBC Nightly News ... ?

Just now tried to watch NBC Nightly News on channel 804. I find the listing, but Watch is grayed out. I can record it, but I can't watch it. Why?

Okay, here's more detail. Just now, I tried again to watch my local channel 804 (NBC 29 out of Charlottesville, VA) on both my laptop and my iPhone. "Watch" is grayed out, and both display "Connect to in-home WiFi to watch." Let me be clear: *** I AM CONNECTED TO IN-HOME WIFI! *** I have an Xfinity X1 access point, and it's my only WiFi connection. Can someone please tell me why I can't view this and other local channels (ABC, CBS). My local PBS station, Discover, History, USA, TBS, and others all seem to stream just fine. I just don't understand.

Xfinity's web site claims ...

Networks available for Xfinity TV livestreaming in-home

Livestream all the networks included in your Xfinity TV service if you’re connected to your in-home WiFi network.

That's not my experience. I'd really like to hear from someone who works for Comcast/Xfinity.

Hi there, @Tater3 I'm very sorry for the trouble you are having with not being able to view the channels you mentioned. I know how frustrating this is for you, which I do apologize for. Since it's been a few days since you last posted are you still experiencing the same issues? If so please don't hesitate to reach back out.-Richard

@XfinityRichard Sorry for the lag win my reply. Just now checked on my MacBook. I'm in Xfinity Stream. I click on Favorite channels, and I can see NBC 29 Channel 804 in the lineup, but no, I can't stream it. "Watch" is grayed out.

Am I correct in my understanding that I should be able to watch this channel?

@Tater3 Please check out Get started with the Xfinity Stream app there you will be able to see how some shows and channels are available and others are not. Let us know if that helps.

Thank you, XfiinityChelseaB, for that helpful information. I read the article, and at your support page, I read,

"Note: If you're an Xfinity TV customer [I am] and connected to your in-home WiFi network [I am], you can use the Xfinity Stream app or portal to livestream local broadcast affiliates."

I'm sitting at my computer desk right now, and I'm signed in with the Xfinity Stream portal on my MacBook. I select Channel 804, NBC 29, and I see this—

You can see that "Watch" is grayed-out.

I'm also using the Xfinity Stream app on my iPhone 13, and I'm watching NBC 29 Channel 804 with no trouble. Can you see why I'm confused? What about that line that reads, "Connect to in-home WiFi to watch." I'm pretty sure I'm connected to my in-home WiFi with my Xfinity X1 access point. My laptop and my iPhone ("mobile device") are using the same WiFi network. I seem to be missing something here, but I have no idea what that is. I hope you can help me understand.
