5.1 output from xfinity stream app

Still waiting to see if there are any developments in implementing 5.1 output from the xfinity stream app. Disappointed to say the least with the app performance. Every movie channel has an app that far exceeds xfinity performance and offers 5.1 output and 4K streaming. Am I missing something or this simply a ploy to still have people rent equipment even though the average smart tv offers a gateway.

Hi there and welcome to Comcast. Thank you so much for reaching out to us about your questions of the Xfinity Streaming App. You are in the right place and I am happy to take a look at this for you. It appears Dolby Digital 5.1 has not been implemented on our Xfinity Stream app yet, but I did a little digging. As a workaround I found that some have been using the Xfinity Stream app on their phone and then using Chromecast to their TV and AV receiver, getting surround sound to work that way. Is that something you may be able to try? I realize workarounds are typically not final solutions, and I think it would be great for our engineers to hear your feedback on this too!
