Xfinity Stream not working on New Chromebook

I bought a new chromebook, and when I try to use xfinity stream there is a pixelated visual glitch.  I found a solution in a similar thread to turn off hardware acceleration, which I did.  When I do this, the app doesn't work at all anymore and the website works, but now the stream freezes for a second every 10 seconds or so.  Chat with an xfinity agent did not seem to help.  Does anyone have any tips or solutions?

using the chrome browser? up to date chromebook software? chrome updated? close all tabs and power down and restart the chromebook.
