Xfinity incompatibility issues w pixel

Anytime another app (such as an incoming voice call) disrupts Xfinity streaming, it seems the streaming can't recover or return to the program, and I have to reset (force stop) the Xfinity app to restart programming. I know force stop can cause misbehaviours, but I have no other choice. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Xfinity with no improvement. I have a Google Pixel 2xl. Any suggestions?

BTW,if the screen doesn't simply go dark, the error message is 106000, unable to playback. But I can't even select another program. I just have to restart
