Verifying download

I download shows and then when I am away from home I get a message saying “verifying download” next to the downloads and I have to delete all the shows and redownload them. My internet connection when traveling is often very slow so that is why I download at home. This issue started at the beginning of this year and seems to happen randomly on both my iPad and iPhone. How to fix this?
