Unable to sign in with my provider on streaming apps (for Firestick)
I am incapable of logging into certain apps (ESPN, USA Network, HBO GO, Adult Swim, etc.) that use single sign-on and have me provide my Xfinity/Comcast information using the app to sign in.
When attempting to sign in, I am brought to the "Choose Provider" page, and select Xfinity. Whether the username is remembered or not (if not I type it in), I type in my password and then press "Sign In". A yellow progress bar appears at the bottom and it seems like it is loading a new page, but then it brings me back to the "Choose Provider" page. This results in a constant cycle of trying to login and being returned to the login page to login. I have attempted this with another Xfinity/Comcast account as well, and the exact same problems arise.
This is different from other streaming apps (Ex. TNT, TBS, Showtime, etc.) that provide you with a verification code, and require you to you login elsewhere (Ex. https://www.tntdrama.com/activate/firetv). With these apps, there are no problems and I am signed into my streaming apps to view the content I pay for.
It appears that there is a problem with Xfinity's authentication process when utilizing the apps to sign me in. Any help would be appreciated!

I spoke to soon. It's broken again. I tried multiple things - delete the apps and re-install, reset the firetv to factory defaults and start again. All fail in the same way - pick xfinity in the app, enter credentials, enter the SMS code, drop back to log-in, no access.
Xfinity hates me.

I am having the same problems logging into Xfinity from apps (e.g., CNN Go, CNBC) on my gen2 Fire TV stick. Everything works on the 4K TV Stick. So it may be an Amazon issue?
I noticed the Stream app (on iOS) now supports casting via Chromecast with the most recent update so it may be time to jettison the FireTV Sticks, which I love since it integrates with the security cameras!

I will update this post if anything changes or fails. Sometimes the updates are painfully slow (and I have a consistent 98MB download speed) so be patient. The new 4K Firestick is really amazing in picture quality.

the various 3rd party sites determine for themselves what equipment is allowed or not allowed. Try ESPN on a mobile device and see if that works. Here is a link to info on 3rd party sties. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/online-tv-through-partner-sites

Well A&E supports Amazon Fire TV. So it seems the only problem here lies with xfinity refusing to autheticate the code and sticking me in an endless loop. it's sent me 5 codes today. never says any of them are incorrect. just doesn't authenticate them.

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/online-tv-through-partner-sites doesn't show ability to use Comcast credentials. you might be able to sign in via smart phone/tablet but not on a TV connected device. Worth trying.

I’m only posting again because it says my question has been “answered”, and it doesn’t really seem like it based on the replies I’ve been reading. Suggestions have definitely been given, but none seem to fix the primary problem. And answers to try logging in on another device (phone, laptop, tablet) aren’t really addressing the point of wanting to log into Apps with our Xfinity accounts on our TVs.
So yeah, just wanted to say that

how about my laptop which also can't connect to A&E's site? Is my laptop no longer acceptable for comcast to let me stream through? What's funny about this is that it worked when i got the Fire Stick. It worked on my laptop. I just watched an episode 20 minutes ago on my browser on the laptop. However just like the firestick, suddenly it's now not working. Fire stick works fine for CBS all-access. It works for Netflix, Amazon prime, and a whole slew of apps that require xfinity authetication. But not A&E. Which is not a problem with A&E and Amazon, who again were working fine a couple days ago. Or A&E and my laptop, which was working fine 20 minutes ago.

Neither of you so-called 'experts' seems to actually be reading what is written. The log-in worked. It worked fine until suddenly xfinity was no longer signing in despite putting A&E on its list of websites you can stream from with your xfinity account. If Xfinity can't connect to the Fire Stick, why did it work before? If Xfinity can't connect to my laptop, why did it work before? If Xfinity can't connect to A&E why does Xfinity state explicitly you can stream A&E through your Xfinity account? You seem to be under the impression that Comcast is perfect and infallible and aren't actually answering anyone's question or offering any real solutions. Just ignoring those questions completely and essentially blaming user error.
Although it's hilarious reading how Comcast and Xfinity don't get along with A&E or support A&E despite listing it under sites you can stream, despite A&E's site showing Xfinity as a provider you can log in with, despite it working on BOTH my Fire Stick and my laptop until it's suddenly posting errors and getting into a log-in loop, you're frankly just wasting my time posting complete nonsense. If you're the experts no wonder it doesn't work. You don't know what you're even talking about. (FFS A&E is the first site listed under sites you can stream from with your xfinity account but supposedly you can't see it? Give me a break)

the second section specifically says 'what device' you can use is decided by the provider. They can allow mobile only or allow full access. that's why the question on can you access via a smart phone/tablet.
