Unable to get full picture on LG TV while using the streaming beta app

When using the streaming app on our LG tv, we are unable to get the full screen. In the app its self there is a full screen but as soon as you select something to watch, there is a black boarder on the left and right. I have gone through all of the settings and even called Comcast. Has anyone else had this problem? I do not have HD but Comcast was unable to confirm if that would fix the problem or not. Thanks for any feedback!

do you have a set top box in the home connected to a 16:9 HD TV? is the LG TV in 16:9 and not stretched nor zoomed? are you paying for HD service (on the bill will be a line for "HD Technology fee"? when you play the same 'channel on a smart phone/tablet do you see the same 'bars' (called curtains)?

I'm not sure about the ratios however, we do not have this issue on any other app on the TV. We do not have HD and I am willing to add it to our service is someone can confirm it needs HD to work properly. This issue does not happen on my smart phone nor my tablet.

SD subscriptions do not include HD of most channels (some local channels may be in HD). Some HD channels broadcast locally may be using the AFD protocol (special broadcast that causes your HD 16:9 TV to be presented nearly or full-screen as if in HD instead of normal 4:3 radio letterbox (curtains on right and left side where there is no video image to display). the HD programs that your receive as SD are made to fit a 16x9 HD screen area by size reduction. this can cause dark 'curtains' on 2 or 4 sides (for the 4 curtains around a video, the term 'postage stamp" is used for that presentation method). You can always try the HD option. the set top box can be set to automatically give you the HD version of a channel when you tune to an SD version of a channel.
