Streaming App at my daughter's college not working?

So my daughter has a TCL TV with the built in roku in her dorm room. I'm like great I'll install the xfinity stream app, sign her in and she can watch recorded shows, on-demand shows and specific tv-go channels (live) while at school.

Issue is when I sign her in it says that the app will only allow her to watch tv when connected to the home network and the only option is to exit the APP. From everything i've been reading this should be possible to do but it's not working. Is this a bug or is something else going on with my account?

thanks,

Jason

thanks for your quick reply. I can't tell you how disappointing this is that this app can't be used outside of the home network.

Comcast needs to get their act together otherwise they won't be able to compete with the other streaming apps/companies.

at the present time (while in beta) the roku will not work unless connected to the home wifi. it will work for some of the third-party apps, however. If you have an old desk/laptop you can use the stream website and chrome browser and connect to the TV via an HDMI cable or a Chromecast dongle. she can also use a smart device (phone/tablet). an inexpensive chromebook works fine too.
