Stream on Firestick issues

I downloaded the Xfinity Stream App on my Firestick. When I choose a channel, it says “This video stream is not playable under the current device conditions. Please disconnect any external devices (including HDMI, screen mirroring, or casting devices) and try again.” The only thing that is plugged into my tv is the Firestick. Any help on how to fix this is greatly appreciated!

I've spent the the past 3-4 days on tech support with Comcast on this.  They even elevated me to "Tier 2/advance."  Tier 1 just says "not compatible" with fire stick, but like you I've used it for at least 2 years now, an older version for sure, and like you kept asking me to update, and Amazon store said "unavailable?" So I would just ignore it and continued to use the app.  Then it suddenly would not work anymore, so like you, I uninstalled, installed latest version 6.2.2.002, and launched it, signed into my acct, and it seemed to be working. . better, slicke GUI, but I couldn't get any programming to play, live or recored.  Got the same error. . " “This video stream is not playable under the current device conditions. Please disconnect any external devices (including HDMI, screen mirroring, or casting devices) and try again.” "  Which doesn't make sense.

I've been with Comcast for nearly 40 years, and I'm not going to let them pass the buck on this.  They force you to rent their cable boxes, and with 7 or so TVs, I have 3 rented, a Roku which the app works fine, and 3 fire sticks on dumb TVs.  One other firestick is starting to give me the same "update" message, so I figured this one will go down too.  I thought the solution would be to load an older version of the app, but I fear it internally will recognize it's not uptodate and do the same thing.  Comcast/Xfinityt HAS to resolve this.  If it's getting revenue from Roku, fine, but it has to make it work with Fire Sticks and other "android" streaming devices.  By the way the minimum OS is Android 5, and the firesticks are all qualified.

If I understand, you loaded an app on the firestick that was not authorized by the firestick (it is available for free using a Roku). Now that the unauthorized device does not work, I'd be glad I was able to use it for so long. When you first run the stream app it asks you to agree to the terms and conditions for use of the free app.

I had fire sticks when I gave back the boxes so I did the workaround until they stopped working with this update. . I recently ordered two of the cheapest Roku ones and the app works 100% better. It is much easier to use and doesn’t hang up like the fire sticks.

Thanks Jill, I agree.  Xfinity volunteer expert "Rustyben" claims this app was never meant to work with fire sticks or Roku.  Mine works fine with my Roku, but not with fire sticks . . now.  I'd like to see if I can get the developers to fix this, since they did work.  I've been on the phone for hours working Xfinity "tier 2" (real experts!) on this with no luck.  So in case this issue just gets dropped, and I expect it will, I ordered 2 of the Rodu streaming sticks (higher cost than "Premier") because they can use 5.0 ghz wifi, and have increased wifi reception.  That way I can use them if the fire stick issue can't be resolved by Xfinity or myself.

That was the link given (YouTube videos I searched) when I was trying it but was getting an error. I’ll try again on the one tv I still use it on (for Netflix etc). I got the Roku for two others and it is far superior in terms of ease of use. On the fire stick it always looked weird and I had to back in to live channels which gave me errors at times.

Amazon fire os is simply a fork of Android OS.. Outside screen formatting in terms of interacting with the Xfinity app it's android os. It is also why under Xfinity's own support page for streaming app they mention Amazon devices specifically numerous times as working...
They list plenty of devices less popular on the unsupported list but not Amazon fire devices. This further insinuates support for them.

You have to understand the fork of android of fire is to understand why it should function on these devices as they are underneath the GUI basically Android with a few added features to work with Amazon net structure.

Quoted from Xfinity's support page:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-tv-app-requirements" target="_blank">https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-tv-app-requirements>" target="_blank">

"Android" target="_blank" rel="noopener noopener noreferrer">https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-tv-app-requirements

"Android" target="_blank">https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-tv-app-requirements

"Android> Device Requirements
Supported Operating Systems
To find and download the Xfinity Stream app in the Google Play Store or Amazon App stores, your device must be running Android 5.0 or later. Any smartphone or tablet running Android 4 or earlier is not supported.

Supported Xfinity Stream App Versions
To access and watch all content, including content available to watch when out-of-home, Xfinity Stream app version 6.2.2 or later is required. Please visit the Google Play Store to download the latest version.

**********Please note that for Amazon devices, users can visit the Amazon App Store to download the latest version.*************"
–--------------------------------
****Notice it specifically mentions Amazon devices in terms of working*******
-------------------------------

"Unsupported Devices
The Xfinity Stream app cannot be installed on the following unsupported devices:
Android TV
Windows tablets and phones
Nook devices
Apple TV
Other devices not specifically mentioned"
------------------------------------
Notice nooks applied TV android TV windows mobile devices listed but not any mention of more popular Fire Amazon So again supporting the position its supported

----------------------------

There is no way Xfinity could list all the devoices compatible with its app as there are literally thousands of android devices from phones to pads to PCs running countless versions forks of android that are compatible.

Not to mention that hundreds of statements from calling Xfinitys own tech support and those official Xfinity Corp reps stated yes its compatible and gave tech support in getting it working.

Facts are facts Xfinity states Amazon devices work and where to find its apps.. There offical reps in tech support state its compatible and further more gave support for it.

It is tied for most used aux streaming device yet its not present on the lexical Xfinity unsupported list yet far less popular devices are.

Not only this but the FACT the android version of Xfinity app has worked for 2 yrs since its release.

What has happened is either the update messed something up but doubtful given the error message people are getting. Much more likely, Xfinity/Comcast added a blacklist and added the fire os
