Safari 15 cannot open Xfinity stream on the iMac

It hangs on the buffering screen when I try to stream Xfinity TV on the Xfinity website.  Only occurred once I updated to Apple's latest browser, Safari 15.

Same problem here.  Definitely the problem is the Safari 15 update.  Downloaded the Friendly Streaming App for my iMac from the App Store, added the tv.xfinity.com URL and everything is running fine now.  Give it a try and see if it works for you.

Yes, not available yet as it is currently a beta.  You can manually download it or wait for the general release.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xinity Forums. I understand how frustrating it is to not be able to use the Stream app with the Safari 15 browser. Have you tried rolling back to version 14.1 to see if you are able to use the Stream app there or a different browser? It looks like Chrome is able to use the Stream app without any issues.

I experienced this same issue, Stream was working in Safari 14 and quit/hung on start in Safari 15.  As was mentioned above I have also found the Beta for Safari 15.1 appears to resolve this issue.  If anyone is interested in giving that a shot I downloaded it from Apple at: https://developer.apple.com/safari/download/

Alternatively the MacOS version of Chrome also still works for me.

How about a directional answer on when this will be fixed? About a day, a week, a month, Christmas, a year - just something.

SOLUTION

1. Click Safari menu

2. Click Settings for Xfinity.com

3. Uncheck box that says "Enable content blockers"

Install Safari Technology Preview.... Version should be 15.4. Release 133 or higher.  It works with no changes or altered settings.

SOLVED.

@user_39fc0e The Safari Technology Preview will solve your problem If the other solution does not.  I am currently using it now.

@user_39fc0e Sorry to hear you're still experiencing issues with Xfinity Stream. Are you able to use a different browser to see if you're able to use stream there?

I no longer work for Comcast.

Welcome to our community forum, @user_60357e! I love using the steam site so I'd be frustrated if I was running into issues after a new software update. Have you tried a different browser? Have you tried going back to the previous software version or trying out the beta that was suggested by other users in this thread?

I hav e Big Sur 11.6 and still cannot stream for almost a week now. This is really poor service for $215 a month

I am running Big Sur 11.6 on a new iMac and cannot stream xfinity. I have updated all other iPads in house to ios15 and still stream fine. Tis is an Xfinity issue, but their service is the worst. Mt LAN changes from % to 2.4 and to Xfinity randomly while I loose my signal and programming. They go offline whenever they feel like it usually between 11 and 1;30 every night and I am kicked off. Bottom line they have stripped services(texting, phone services, etc...) and my monthly charge is up to $215., but not for long. this week I am making changes. Eventually their services will not be needed as they have been and they will be forced to recognize they can't control their customers and take advantage of them.

I should not have to use a non Apple Browser or use a Beta version of software. This $230 a month is getting ridiculous. Alternates which I'll be looking into are FIOS or Direct TV.

@user_487d5d I agree but in this case it looks like Apple is to blame as it broke with the Safari 15 update and is fixed in the Safari 15.1 beta which will most likely be released soon.

I agree.  I'm 70 now, and while I do really well with computers, even a bit of coding, I'm not willing to pay Comcast for poor service.  The MacOS Big Sur update to 11.6 works perfectly with all platforms, except Xfinity, therefore, it is a Comcast issue.  Lately I've had horrible wifi service on my iPhone too.  FIOS is not in our area, but I'll still be checking around.

I just found a solution that works for me. Open Xfinity in the Firefox browser. Login using your Xfinity credentials and open the streaming content icon. This will take you directly to Xfinity
