Safari 15 cannot open Xfinity stream on the iMac
It hangs on the buffering screen when I try to stream Xfinity TV on the Xfinity website. Only occurred once I updated to Apple's latest browser, Safari 15.

I'm having this issue too, but it goes beyond Safari. With Safari, it never connects (just buffers). With Firefox, Edge and Chrome, I get through the initial parts of the menu, but when I pick a program, I get a brief "Attempting to resume....." message, followed by a "Cannot play video...." Player error 9001. I have tried problem-solving with Apple, but they noted that since I was experiencing issues in several browsers, it was most likely an Xfinity issue. When talking to Xfinity, they didn't seem to know anything about the issue, although this forum would certainly indicate that it must be a known issue by now. BTW, I have no problems playing video from other sources like YouTube and Facebook. Very frustrating.

I have this problem on Mac mini 2020 (M1) and Mac mini 2018 (Intel). Once signed in to Xfinity, the browser window is stuck at "Now connecting to your entertainment experience" over three pulsing dots. That's it. Never recovers. This happens on Safari 15.0 on macOS Big Sur 11.6. I also ran into problems with Firefox (92.0.1), though the symptoms were a bit different. On Firefox, you can see the For You and Saved > Recordings pages, but would get stuck (pulsing dots) attempting to play the recorded program. Using Google Chrome (94.0.4606.61) I was able to play recorded programs, and strangely, after returning to Firefox (92.0.1) the recorded program also began to play there as well, after re-opening from Saved > Recordings. I have to say, I don't care whose fault it is. But Xfinity does tout "Watch Anywhere" as a big feature. I would expect that Xfinity reps would stop trying to push this problem back on to their customers and work closely with Apple to resolve the issue. As the latest release of Big Sur and Safari were pushed to fix very serious security issues, Xfinity recommending customers "roll back" to earlier versions, even if possible, is a VERY BAD suggestion and speaks of a lack among Xfinity representatives to take this problem seriously. Do your jobs!

To Everyone:
I downloaded the "Friendly Streaming Browser" from the Apple App Store to my MacBook Pro. It was very quick to download and very simple to set-up/use. Xfinity Streaming works fine (as well as any other streaming service you may use). Problem solved for now while I wait for Apple and Xfinity to work out their compatibility issues :)

Thank you for the Friendly Streaming App work around! Works great on my IMAC for which there are not many apps period. I am so disappointed in Apple support. They used to be the best and now I’m afraid they have joined the ranks of Xfinity’s customer service & this is NOT a compliment!

I did the suggestion an earlier poster recommended. Went to Mac App Store downloaded "Friendly Streaming Browser". I added tv.xfinity.com and that works just fine, and because it is a stripped-down streaming browser only, it is saving me tons of RAM usage compared to Chrome, Safari, etc. I'm using it on my iMac after having updated to the latest IOS and Safari versions for the security fixes. Safari, Chrome, and Firefox will NOT stream xfinity since the updates. But this Friendly Streaming Browser works great and I plan to use it going forward even when the rest are fixed because of the extreme RAM savings.
