Safari 15 cannot open Xfinity stream on the iMac

It hangs on the buffering screen when I try to stream Xfinity TV on the Xfinity website.  Only occurred once I updated to Apple's latest browser, Safari 15.

Same problem. C'mon Xfinity, keep up. Frustrating not to have access given expense of this service.

@JSH1205 Not XFinity’s fault. This is a bug in Safari 15.0.  It’s fixed in 15.1, which you can download now.

I'm having the same problem as others were having 21 days ago. Looks like not much progress is being made toward fixing the incompatibility with Safari 15.

I did finally get this working by downloading Safari 15.1 Beta from the Apple developers site as stated by others.

@ppaul1 I followed your advice and was able to resume streaming Xfinity on my laptop in a matter of minutes. Why isn't Xfinity suggesting this fix to their subscribers? Thank you once again.

@user_462439 Probably because it's a beta version.  It appears that other people have had varying success with either Firefox or Chrome, which is what Xfinity suggested to me.

Follow these steps:

developer.apple.com  > Safari betas view downloads > Safari 15.1 for MacOS Big Sur, etc. view details > select the appropriate beta version

Same here!  I'm guessing that this may be on Apple's end.  I will check there as well.

@user_cfc551 read back a bit.  Use Chrome, Firefox, or Safari 15.1 beta.

Can we get compensated for the lack of service?  We pay a ridiculous amount of money for xfinity in my area because it is the only cable available.  You could at least fix the problem or compensate those unable to connect.

Hello @Retired2USAF I get the frustration if my browser was causing this error I would be frustrated as well. If you download Safari version 15.1 or 15.1 beta that should resolve the issue. Safari is aware of the issue and did come out with an update to correct it. I do hope that information helps.

After spending 1.5 hrs chatting with Xfinity last night - and getting nowhere - I found this forum post... and this morning spent 1/2 hr on phone with Apple to try to confirm the issue is with Safari 15.  Both sides blame the other, and both pretend like it's the first time they've heard about the problem. (And, BTW, Apple support didn't even suggest Safari 15.1 beta; they blame Comcast.) It's totally unacceptable that they both waste so much time - both customers and their own support staff.  [EDIT]!!

But, yes, the issue does seem to be with Safari 15.  Rather than install 15.1 beta, I'll use Google Chrome until the final release.... whenever that is...

I have tried to communicate this same problem to Comcast by phone and chat. Their personnel monitoring those services are incredibly dense and unhelpful and Comcast has no e-mail message service available to describe the problem to. How does one ever get through to Comcast and receive a satisfactory solution in return???

Hey @user_ffcf31, @user_a54ac4 and all others in this thread!

We appreciate you all letting us know about this trouble with the Stream app and your Apple devices; are all devices using either iOS 15 or the Mac operating system 11.6? Does the issue occur if you use another browser like Firefox or Edge?

I no longer work for Comcast.

I’m having this issue too! Xfinity robot had me reset the modem. It makes sense that it’s an update bug.. Very frustrating,
