Roku stream app- audio settings?

Is there a way to adjust audio settings on the Roku Stream app? I am having issues with audio lagging only on the Xfinity Stream app. I have tried to adjust some audio settings on my TV and on the Roku itself, but the issue persists with the Stream app and I can't find any way to access audio settings within the Stream app.

Hello @user_763050, thanks for reaching out for help with the audio setting in the Xfinity Stream app. We are sad to hear that you are having issues with this, and will be glad to help however we can.

For the Stream App, most of the audio settings you will be able to change are accessibility options. Such as Close captions, language,  Secondary Audio Programming, etc. To make sure we are all on the same page, what type of audio settings were you looking to change?

@XfinityRyanE Hello- I am referring to settings related to the audio and/or video and how they would come through. My Roku has settings related to whether there is audio leveling, whether the audio is stereo, etc. I can't find any additional settings in the Xfinity Stream app outside of the ones you list.

Hello @user_763050! What Roku device and model do you have? And, are you using a surround sound system or sound bar?

I am not using a surround sound system or sound bar. I have the Roku streaming stick 3600 (dual band wifi).

Hello @user_bd484a. Have you tried bypassing the sound bar to see if the issue persists?

I have much the same problem which used to rarely occur but now frequently occurs (except for lag on the AHC channel that would lag more and more the longer the channel was on, which has occurred forever). I have a 2020 Roku Ultra hard wired to the router and connected to the TV with HDMI.  No sound bar at all. All firmware is up to date.

Other than the AHC channel the lagging issue is still fairly rare but more than in the past. But the sound volume going up and down, significantly, and/or the sound getting distorted, has started happening frequently over the last couple of months.

i have tried every possible combination of audio settings in the Roku and none have any effect good or bad. As the original poster said the problem is unique to the Xfinity Stream app.

Hey there, @Lovensheimer

Can you please send our team a private chat message with your full name and full service address? I want to see what we can do to help.

To send the requested information:
  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support"
there. As you are typing a drop-down list appears.
  • Select "Xfinity Support" from that list. An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it

I'm also having audio problems with the xfinity stream app on Roku. I have both a roku 4k streamstick and a roku ultra hooked to an LG OLED tv with a Dennon AVR-X2700H receiver with Dolby Atmos speaker setup ( the receiver also supports other surround formats). The Roku Ultra is hooked directly to a Gigabit private network hooked to a comcast router.

The best I can get out of the XFinity stream app on either roku device is Stereo.
I can watch the same movie on other apps (netflix, disney+, Movies anywhere, etc.) and I get the full Dolby Atmos surround experience so I'm pretty certain it's not an issue with my hardware setup.
