Hot spot security

Not sure if this is the right spot, but here goes.

I just ported the cell phones from Verizon to Xfinity Mobile. I've never used public WiFi, instead tethering my iPad to my iPhone using the hot spot feature to read my news feeds (no iPhone is remotely large enough for reading anything, IMHO). I am a bit unsure how to use the gillions of Xfinity WiFI hotspots. I gather from Xfinity that a few are secure and require actual login credentials. The rest seem to be not secure, thus allowing for man-in-the-middle attacks. Am I understanding the security correctly? Is there someway to keep my iOS devices from automatically connecting to anything except the secure hot spots?

Hello @RickCunn and thank you! I really appreciate you being a member of the Comcast Family! Have you tried going into your phone's WiFi settings and switching off the autojoin for Xfinity's public hotspot?

1. Click on settings

2. Click on Wi-Fi

3. You should see Xfinity listed under my networks. Click the blue (i) encased in a circle

4. toggle off the auto-Join switch.
