Delete for my recorded items

I downloaded three shows to my iPad. I waited till I got home to transfer them back, not realizing it had not reconnected to my Wi-Fi. They removed visually from my iPad, but it was not connected to my system at home therefore that are still showing and it will not let me delete them. What is a workaround for this or do they automatically return after X amount of days
