Consistent Pixelation Issue with Xfinity Stream App on Fire TV (Wired Connection)

A persistent issue I'm experiencing with the Xfinity Stream app on my Insignia Fire TV (Cat6a wired connection) is the recurring pixelation or low-quality stream at the start of any On Demand content, even when a high-definition (HD) option is selected.

Summary of my setup and the issue:

  • Device: Insignia 55-inch Fire TV.
  • App: Xfinity Stream App (latest version).
  • Viewing Method: "On Demand," with the "HD, In-Home" option selected.
  • Connection: Wired Ethernet connection using a Cat 6a cable to xFi router

Despite having a direct, high-speed wired connection, every time a show or movie is started, the stream initially plays at a very low resolution. It takes a significant and noticeable amount of time (several seconds) for the picture to "ramp up" and transition to the full HD quality.

I have performed extensive troubleshooting to rule out any issues on my end:

  • Network Speed: The TV's built-in speed test consistently reports download speeds of over 60 Mbps, which is more than sufficient for 4K streaming. This confirms that bandwidth is not the issue.

  • Hardware: The use of a Cat 6 Ethernet cable and a direct connection confirms a stable and high-performance physical connection.

  • Troubleshooting: I have rebooted my modem, router, and the TV multiple times. I have also cleared the app's cache and data, and even completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Xfinity Stream app. The problem persists regardless of these actions.

Based on this, the issue appears to be a bug within the app itself, specifically related to its streaming logic and buffering process. The app is not efficiently utilizing the available bandwidth to start the stream in the selected HD quality from the very first second of playback. And if Xfinity or their Streaming Development Team could just look into, along with, optimize the initial stream ramp-up process on third-party devices like the Fire TV....that would be great. Because a seamless, high-quality viewing experience from the moment of playback is a fundamental expectation of an HD service, so...
