Commercials

I am new to the xfinity app and have been watching a tv show from the beginning with no commercials while watching. I finished one episode (no commercials) went to the next episode and there were commercials throughout the episode. Why is this happening? Can I turn them off or do something to make them stop?

live tv on a numbered channel? on-demand? a DVR'd recording? name of series and season and episode numbers?
