Casting to Chromecast not working since I updated my phone and iPad to ios 15.0.1

Have tried to cast to both chromecast 1st generation as well as newest chromecast with Google TV. The tv screen says ready to cast and the phone/iPad says media not selected. All other casting apps I have tried work.

Same here with Samsung S20. Other media like Netflix and FB cast fine. For the last  3 days, Xfinity says media not found.

Same here. iPhone is using iOS 14.8 tho, not 15.

Going on a week without being able to cast. Xfinity has dropped the ball with Chromecast once again. Not sure why they can’t figure it out when other streaming apps have no problem.

Very similar issues here. I updated my iphone 8 to IOS 14.8. now I cannot cast to tv via Chromecast device. You Tube and Netflix - cast no problem! So the casting thru Chromecast on those programs works fine! Got to be Xfinity issue. All my tv's are using a Chromecast device and were set up using the Google home app as recommended. I can punch in any channel line up in Xfinity as usual and select a program to watch as I normally do. As soon as I hit the cast icon it goes thru its usual "winding" mode as if its going to cast to the TV. The screen says ready to cast and the phone says media not connected. Yet the iphone is still doing itd "winding" thing.  Does not stream the program to the tv but I can watch it on my iphone without casting! That I believe is using phone data which is not good since I have a limit on my data thru AT and T. Have not been able to watch any of the baseball play-offs which is why I went to Xfinity to begin with. Frustrating for sure. Can't watch any thing EXCEPT: get this its really weird. I go into Google home app. thats where the chromecast devices are set up as recommended. hit the settings button and my devices come up on the screen. In my case I have a number of tv's Family room, Attic, Family room speaker(Google Home device) and my thermostat for the house heat. Anyway I digress,........underneath my family room tv - in blue print- it says Watch live tv. So I click on it. It now casts to my tv the sling logo and immediately casts CNBS (sling free tv) to my tv! Its the only thing I can cast to my tv relating to my Xfinity service. So I am no expert but seems like Sling has somehow created a virus taking over the casting of my Xfinity programs! Ok I have spent way too much time trying to explain this issue. Also many hours chatting with Xfinity about the issues. No solutions presented by Xfinity. I am on the edge of going to another service for tv. Frustration has set in. If its a widespread issue, its gonna hurt Comcast/Xfinity for sure! Way too complicated for me!! Good luck getting it fixed........

Hi, @tominmn and @user_7ddaaa and any others seeking assistance on this thread. There is a known issue with casting off of our stream app. We did push through an update as of Monday that should have resolved the issue. Are you experiencing issues today still?

My iPhone 13 was just recently updated to iOS 15.1.1.  That happened three days ago.  Now, I can't cast from the Xfinity Stream app to my Sony Bravia Chromecast ready TV.  Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ have all worked just fine.  It's just Xfinity that isn't.  All I get is a message saying that Chromecast devices cannot be found.

Hello @user_aa9c17! Can you direct message us your name and address, please so I can assist with troubleshooting this issue? Make sure you are signed in with your Xfinity credentials.

  1. In the top right corner, you'll see a little chat icon near the bell icon. Click the direct message icon
  2. Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  3. In the 'To' line, type "Xfinity Support" there. A drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list (an "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line)
  4. Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  5. Press Enter to send it. An official employee, such as myself or whoever is first available, will respond. Thanks!

Instead of wasting time with this nonsense answer fix the issue with Xfinity supporting Iphones and their updates IOS 15 and up to make Chromecast work back again. Anybody with little brain knows how to click "chat" to reach your non customer supporting people.

@XfinityChristina what monday are you referring to? This issue was at least a month old. Xfinity was recognizing my chromecast devices until today! 12/21/2021. It quit reconizing chromecast devices on my wifes phone on 12/19 or 12/20/2021. Cannot watch any xfinity programs on my tv’s!! Fix whatever soon please! I pay a lot of money- too much infact to have to deal with this bs every other month!

My casting was working post IOS upgrade, just not after the Xfinity Stream app was upgraded/reformatted. Xfinity support sez it’s my phone!  I know there is recurrent issues between Xfinity and IOS.

I have similar issues. Although it happened b4 the ios upgrade to 15 whatever. This is my second go round with this issue. I can watch my programs on my phone but cannot cast to any tv’s at the moment. One thing I can cast to the tv is highlighted in blue under my device named living room or attic(yours would be whatever you name your chromcast) in the Google home app. It says watch live tv (in blue letters) when I click on this it brings up the Sling logo and casts one program that is probably offered by Sling. When I describe to the Xfinity people, they have no idea what I am talking about so I am left to my own devices to watch nothing that I am paying for! I do not have Sling tv…. I am Confused as Xfinity about the issue!  Wish they could figure it out! Frustrated for sure!

@user_7ddaaa   i’m having the same (identical) issue. Very frustrating that I’m paying this much money and can’t watch my shows. Comcast needs to get there act together.

Another frustrated customer here…. Suddenly this week the app stopped recognizing my devices available to display the stream from our iPhones. Have to login through laptops which is really annoying and inconvenient. By the looks of this thread, Xfinity is useless and doing nothing to fix.  Will be looking for another provider after the holidays.

Hello, @OCMDGRL and others! Thanks for coming to the community with your mutual concerns. Our troubleshooting of third-party devices and applications can be limited, but we're happy to look into any issues with our equipment and/or services! To clarify, you are trying to cast whatever you're streaming through our Xfinity Stream app on your smart device to a television, right? What exactly are you seeing when you try this (i.e. error message, error code, app restarts, etc.)?

This is all complete [Edited: "Language"]! Stop acting like this issue is on our end!! We all have updated to iOS 15 and the Xfinity app is the only one that doesn’t recognize any of my chrome cast devices!! Stop having us run in circles! Stop acting like you don’t know what’s going on! You know what the issue is! Fix the flipping issue!

The app is only showing one Chromecast device in a household, and it is the first one alphabetically. I just renamed my Living Room TV to “A Living Room TV” and it replaced my Basement TV which was the only one showing in the list before. I hope they don’t take forever to release a code update to fix this. Communication with Xfinity is never good or effective. Do they even know it’s broken? Who knows.

1/16/2022. Does Xfinity have any “new” solutions to these chromecast/Xfinity casting issues?

Update to 7.1.0 (about 2 weeks ago) and it's fixed, at least for me.
