Apple TV: This device can only access finity Stream on your in-home Xfinity WiFi

Connect to the in-home Xfinity WiFi. The Xfinity gateway is in bridge mode and I have my eero mesh.

xfinity stream can work fine with Roku, fire tv , iPhone. However, it does not work with Apple TV. It shows “This device can only access finity Stream on your in-home Xfinity WiFi.”

It makes no sense enforcing stupid process only on Apple TV to upset your customers.

Thank you for reaching out user_t3gerr, I completely understand your frustration. We truly appreciate you sharing your experience with us!
The reason this is happening specifically on your Apple TV comes down to a strict combination of Apple’s built-in privacy features and how our app verifies that you are connected to your home network when using third-party routers.
When your Xfinity gateway is in bridge mode, your eero router changes your network's ID signature. Unlike Roku or Fire TV, the Apple TV app strictly requires the original Xfinity signature to verify you are at home. Because it only sees the eero details, it assumes you are away from home. Additionally, Apple privacy features like iCloud Private Relay hide your device's location, which completely blocks this required security check.

Follow these steps to disable it:
  • Go to Settings on your Apple device.
  • Select your Apple ID at the top.
  • Tap iCloud, then select Private Relay.
  • Toggle the feature Off.
  • Alternatively, check your Apple TV network settings to ensure privacy features are disabled for your home Wi-Fi network.

Let me know if this helps.
