Allow Background Audio not working on iOS 15 (Xfinity Stream)
Allow Background Audio used to work. Now, under iOS 15, it doesn't seem to work for me. As soon as I lock the screen the audio stops.
Does the app need an update? Is there a work-around?

Hello, @DeltaOne, thank you for taking the time to create this post on our Xfinity Forums and bringing this issue to our attention! I am not currently seeing any known issues regarding that feature. Have you attempted any further troubleshooting steps, toggling the Allow Background Audio off and on, re-installing the app itself. Have you seen this issue duplicated on another device?

I've toggled Allow Background Audio off/on. I've rebooted my iPhone. I have not tried re-installing the app, I'll try that now.
I think it's interesting that after the iOS 15 update I first noticed a problem with background audio in the Audible app. I've found that if I reboot my iPhone then background audio works in the Audible app. But rebooting does not seem to bring it back for the Stream app.

There is a known issue with the IOS 15.0.1 update and all live streaming services, Xfinity Stream, Disney+, Netflix, Hulu etc. All come up playback error, primarily with the new IPhone 13 and 13pro. Apple engineering is aware and should be fixed with next update. :(

Before Xfinity/Apple fix the underlying issue, here’s how you can side-step the problem:
1. While the app is running in the foreground, turn the screen off.
2. The screen goes off, and the playback stops too. Now, turn the screen back on without unlocking the phone.
3. You should see the ‘play’ button on the screen. Press it. The playback should restart.
4. Leave the screen on. The screen will go off after a short while. Voila, the playback continues and your screen is off!

I had same issue with new phone install.
There is a setting within the Xfinity app (not in iPhone settings) …
Click on the Xfinity app menu “stack”, click on the Settings “gear” and Playback Preferences, turn on Allow background audio. Appears the default on install is OFF.
Then turn OFF your screen. Turn ON your screen and Play Button should be available. Press PLAY and the audio restarts. Then turn OFF your screen and audio continues. This was IOS 15.1
