Would this work?
Just an idea here, since Xfinity seems disinterested in offering any sort of phone discounts for existing customers (they all require a number being ported in).
The idea is that we get a new number, via Google Voice or just off eBay etc. Then port that in to Xfinity in order to qualify for a promo, such as the current Pixel 4 which is $300 off the normal price. Once that is all activated, either switch the sim with one of our older phones, or get Xfinity to switch the numbers behind the scenes (which I hear is surprisingly difficult and might need to be done in person).
Either way, the outcome seems like it would be a good one - getting the discounted price, keeping the same phone number, without too many hoops to jump through. This is just one example as often there are more phone promos which save even more money than the current Pixel 4 offer.
Anyone see a problem with this? I'd rather just have Xfinity offer a good deal, but they don't seem interested unless we port in a new number... The current LG G8 is the only one I've seen in a long time that works for existing customers, and even that is inferior to the price drop they ran on that very same phone maybe 6 months ago (I should have grabbed it then).
