Unable to activate Wi-Fi calling at this time. Please try again later.

I joined Xfinity mobile when it was first offered and purchased an S8 from them and it worked for the most part but I could never get wifi calling to work. I recently updated to a BYOD Unlocked Galaxy S10 from Amazon and I still can not enable Wifi calling. Every time I try I get "Unable to activate Wi-Fi calling at this time. Please try again later."  I have always expected bad service from Xfinity and you might be thinking "why doesn't he just leave and join another service" well my answer is because its so dam cheap :-| . So the reason I have internet service is because they are the only ones who offer it in my area and I have cell phone because they are so dam cheap. I pay $12 for 3 lines and nobody can even come close to that. I have tried to resolve this issue by calling in on the phone and after 4 plus hours on the phone I have gotten no where and have heard every excuse in the book from "you phone is locked" to "its Amazons fault"  I have factory reset my phone, I have reset network settings, I have upgraded the phones software and rebooted and on and on and on.

The symptoms of the issue is that when I try and slide the slider for Wi-Fi calling its says "Unable to activate Wi-Fi calling at this time. Please try again later." and another possible symptom is that under sim status there is no iccid number to be found (that one is odd)

If I had to take a guess I think the issue is with the sim card not being provisioned correctly anyway screen shots below:

Hi, @jrose78! Thanks for reaching out to XFINITY over our forums page for help with the WiFI calling concern. How are you today? I hope all is well! I am sorry to learn about this experience with being unable to activate the WiFi calling feature at this time. This is definitely not the experience that we like to hear about and appreciate you for your time spent on this so far. As a paying consumer myself, I understand the inconvenience that is caused by not being able to use a feature that you like when it worked in the past. Let’s get this fixed once and for all. While reviewing the account, I found some useful troubleshooting steps to cover. I understand that you’ve spent a lot of time with our awesome phone support team, however, would you mind confirming one more time that went through every one of these steps already and that nothing was missed? Here are the steps below.

  1. Wi-Fi Calling must be turned on before attempting a WiFi call.
  2. Ensure Location Services is enabled.
  3. Ensure the device is on the latest software version.
  4. Ensure you’re connected to a WiFi network and the WiFi signal is strong.
  5. Moving from room to room or from one WiFi network to another may cause the call to drop.
  6. Reset the network settings.
  7. Manually restart the device.
  8. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling off and on
  9. Put the device in airplane mode and connect to a WiFi network.
  10. Check if there are any other reliable WiFi connections available nearby.
  11. Try an area where there's a better WiFi signal and try again.
  12. Turn off WiFi and make sure that cellular data is turned on with access to a strong signal, and then restart the device. When the device is powered on again with WiFi turned off, re-attempt WiFi calling.

I am experiencing the same issue.  Just got my new Motorola phone last week and activated it on the Comcast network.  I have very little mobile network signal at my house so I really need Wi-Fi calling to work.  I have gone through the entire list above (some of which doesn’t make sense for this problem - like how do a toggle Wi-Fi calling on and off when it never comes on?) I have a very strong Wi-Fi signal in my house using Comcast router and yet can’t get this to work.  Any other ideas?

Thanks for the reply. It took multiple calls to support but today I finally got someone who followed through and helped me activate Wi-Fi calling.  If anyone else has this issue, I had to go into setting/system/advanced and reset my network setting. After doing that and turning my phone on and off, I now have Wi-Fi calling activated. Whew!
