Service is now entirely useless
I don't know what they have done, but xfinity mobile is now entirely useless and their outsourced support is completely incompetent. Apparently I have to walk into a store somewhere and demand my money back and termination of agreement due to their failure to provide the service I'm paying for.
- There is no Roaming service. I'm in a location that has no Verizon tower but there is an AT&T tower. xfinity will not allow me to connect to that network, so there is no roaming. Violation of the advertised services.
- Texting does not work over wifi calling. It used to, they disabled it. Cellular required, but again they won't let me roam, so zero service.
- Voicemail requires cellular data. WHAT?? This is absurd and was not the case in the past. Unclear what combination of service, phone, and OS this is entirely due to, but they changed it and removed service.
It's clear they want you to pay for unlimited data just so you can text and get voice mail. But all the adds about best coverage are a lie, because there is no service, so can't even pay for the data because there's no service to begin with.

Hi there @Ebon_w163! I hope you are having a fabulous Monday so far! I appreciate you taking time out of your day and want to ensure you’re able to get in touch with an awesome Xfinity Mobile expert to help get this resolved.
Due to account security, our options with Xfinity Mobile accounts are very limited. We're unable to perform any device or account specific requests over this platform.
I have to ask that you try calling or texting 1 (888) 936-4968, or reach out to our secure online chat at xfinity.com/xfinityassistant/?channel=xMobile where an Xfinity Mobile expert is available 24/7.

Hilarious that we're apparently not notified when someone replies to a post. Hysterical that the rep who replied no longer works for the company a few months later. Depressing that since I made this post xfinity was never able to explain the problems and the reps were all useless. Eventually some things started working again, including things the reps all said are impossible. This company is a complete joke.

This a user forum where users can help each other on solutions and experiences. Your original post was not looking for solutions, it was just complaining about your misconceptions:
1.) XM uses the Verizon network, not the networks of other carriers except some very limited cases of domestic roaming. The same goes for other carriers use/domestic roaming on the Verizon network.
2.) SMS does not require cellular data be enabled. MMS (SMS + pictures etc.) does require cellular data be enabled to handle the pictures, videos, etc. XM does count the data used towards your plan.
3.) Visual Voicemail does require cellular data be enabled. XM does count the data used towards your plan.
However, when actually using WiFi Calling and your device is not connected or using the cellular tower signal, both MMS and Visual Voicemail will work and XM does count the data used towards your plan.
You should get a notification that I responded to your post.
