Moto g Power 2022 - can't access mobile data so can't send text or use the internet unless connected to wi-fi

My husband just got this phone and doesn't have any trouble using it for phone calls but he can only send text or use the internet when he is connected to wi-fi. I have checked every setting I know to check.
