If 5G is not available in your area and you purchase a new iPhone 12 from Xfinity mobile are you automatically switched to the new (higher cost) plan that includes 5G?

I was advised by a customer service representative that if you purchase an iPhone 12 model you will be moved to the new higher cost plan even if there is no 5G service in your area yet.
When I ordered my Apple iphone12- I was not told that my monthly bill would increase.
When I ordered my Apple iphone12 I also was not told that my monthly bill would increase.
When I activated it, is when I found out. I received the iPhone on the 23rd in the afternoon and tried to activate it via the computer, it gave me a error message that said I had to do it by phone.
The activation process took about an hour to complete and the associate I was dealing with was super nice and talkative, so while she was waiting on hold for over a half an hour to connect to the department that changed the plan, we had plenty of time to chat. She told me that XM had not updated the process to automatically include changing the iPhone 12 buyers plan to a new plan that includes 5G and the $3 price increase.
On the 28th, while I was talking with an XM person I was told that with the iphone 12 my monthly plan price would not increase.
I hope that’s true for me. I’ll find out with my next payment.
