Apple Watch

When will Xfinity begin supporting Apple Watch with cellular or will this never happen?

Hey jmunzer!

Thanks for letting me know about this. At what point were you told that you couldn't use your watch? Was it after entering the IMEI? The watch counts as an active line on your account so if you have already reached the maximum amount of lines you are able to have, you will not be able to activate.

I only have 4 devices currently on my account. The watch would be the 5th. I think he did try entering my IMEI. He really didn’t seem to have any idea what was going on, and didn’t think you could bring your own watch at all. The people on the phone don’t know either.

No. Def no freezes or anything like that. I called in twice yesterday, and twice today. They don’t seem to know how to activate it! They tell me to go to the watch app, which doesn’t work. Then they have no idea what to do. They try adding slot as a line, and don’t tell me what does or doesn’t happen. Then come back and tell me it isn’t available yet.

Hmm. OK. Do you have any freezes on your credit report or anything like that?

edit:

BYOD for Apple Watches should be in effect now. Have you tried calling back in?

Got it. My team isn't able to activate XFINITY Mobile lines of service (That is only done via XFINITY Mobile support), but I'll ask some of my colleagues if they have any insight on this. Hang tight.

I went to the store yesterday to have my watch (bought from Best Buy) to get activated.  After an hour, she told me all to go.  So, I went to Apple store to syn with my iPhone, and was done.  Today, I discovered that my cellular was not working.  So, I called Xfinity Mobile.  They couldn't figure out why.  After 30 minutes on the phone, they told me to call back next Tuesday.

I was told by several Xfinity employees @2656463 Mobile that even you have "By the Gig" on iPhone, Apple watches cost $10 monthly fee with unlimited data.  What that means that if you don't use cellular with your iPhone, and use cellular on your watch with unlimited data, you will be charged $10 add only to your phone bill.

@CCKenF So why can't I just buy an Apple watch with only the GPS? I don't need the cell service on the watch since my phone is always with me. Xfinity wontlet me add any more lines unless I pay for the watch in full, which makes absolutely no sense.

You can buy and use an Apple watch with only GPS (Bestbuy, Target, Apple, Amazon, etc) and use it with you Xfinity Mobile iPhone. You only need the Cellular version if you want to use certain functions when the iPhone is not present.

There is a $10 smart watch fee, which includes unlimited talk and text. This fee will start upon activation or 7 days after purchase, whichever comes first. The smart watch fee is waived for the first 90 days of service, resulting in a $30 credit on your account. If the watch is activated mid-bill cycle, the fee and credits are prorated for the first and third months.
The data charges are based on the phone plan either unlimited or by the gig.

Hi Ken,

I have exactly same problem with my Apple watch. Even the Xfinity store cannot

connect my watch to cellular.  I have spend 3 hours in the store and everything required

by Xfinity was checked twice. They do not have any idea how to fix it.

Can you please update if you have any info from Xfinity / Comcast / Verizon engineers when

this problem will be fixet - even an estimate.  It is frustrating to purchese $500 piece which

is not working as Xfinity prommised in promotions. It is now well known that is not hardware ptoblem. It is  cellular network which is used by Xfinity and registration repeatedly fails?!

Thanks in Advance!
