Apple Watch can be reached by a number different from the number on the paired iPhone .

My son has a Apple Watch series 4. It worked well in the last two years. But about one month ago, it can only make calls but can not receive calls when the paired iphone is off or away from the watch. I talked to both Xfinity and apple. The only thing they recommended to do is to unpair the watch and pair it again. But it still doesn’t work. Apple even replaced the watch with a new one.

Today when my son was using the watch to call me, the number showing on my phone is a different number from the number on the iPhone which is paired with the watch. When I called back to this new number, the watch was ringing. Now I can reach the watch by this new number and reach the phone by the original number. I even can use the paired iPhone to reach the watch by the new number and vice versa.

i’ve never done the family setup and I think Xfinity doesn’t support family setup.
