Xfinity upgraded speed
Received a notice that XFinity was upgrading my speed to 300mbps.
Nice ... always love speed boosts.
My xFi is in bridge mode, with a Netgear Orbi RBK53 hung off the ethernet port.
Previously, I had 250mbps service and was clocking in around 298mpbs on router speed tests (used for QoS configuration) to leave upstream headroom for ACK/NAK traffic. Suddenly, my Apple TV was getting 58 mpbs, and the modem speed test was getting 111 mbps.
I tried unplugging/replugging the modem, rebooted the routers (there's one main router and two satellites and this is a pain), powered down and back up the router and satellites - nothing was working.
The I got online and tested the speed which was right where it was supposed to be.
Just for yucks, I had XFinity reboot the modem.
Afterwards: the router speed test started turning in 361 mbps.
So ... if XFinity has upped your speed and you're not getting what you expect, reboot the modem through the web page. This obviously does something that a power off/on doesn't, and probably causes the modem to reprovision itself.
