And of course my Galaxy J3 V is not compatible. Nor is an iPhone 7. The developers of the Xfinity App have chosen to ignore backwards compatibility, and instead have chosen merely to require the latest versions of smartphone software, even if it does not add any functionality to the app.
user_4iuabu Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Forums platform for help with your app being compatible with your current phone. To confirm, did you get a notification from us that your device will no longer be compatible?
@XfinityEricB No. When I click on the app it says to update. When I try to update the app I get a message stating that the app is not compatible with my phone
user_4iuabu, Oh no! Right now, you can actually get a new Samsung Galaxy S25 or even save up to $830 on an eligible Samsung Galaxy phone when you add or upgrade to a Premium Unlimited plan and trade in a qualifying phone. Would you like us to see if your Galaxy s8 is eligible for a trade in on a new Samsung device since the app is no longer compatible?

So xfinity's position is for their subscribers to update their older devices? I am subscribing to xfinity internet only. Why do I need to purchase a new phone to use your app?
user_qwplv9, You can also access your account by going to www.xfinity.com/myaccount. I am sorry to hear you can't use your phone to access the app. I hope this helps, having an alternative.

I can confirm, the Xfinity App is completely broken, my Samsung Galaxy has the latest firmware updates, version 9.0 which is ABOVE what the xfinity app requires (version 7.0).
Thank you for reaching out to us @Fortiz428! At this time, the latest version of Android is Android 15. When looking at the Xfinity app on the Google Play Store there is an option to select “About this app”, clicking on it shows a section that mentions the current version requires Android 10 and up. If your device is unable to update past Android 9 you will need to switch to a compatible device.

Thank you for informing us Google Play store’s mobile app does not specify the minimum operating system requirements @Fortiz428. I have submitted feedback to our app team to make sure we get that updated as soon as possible. For the time being, the web page shows the requirements here.

I was having issues with the app, as well. I kept getting the "You need to update the app" message, even though I'd already updated. I checked the details page, and my phone was definitely compatible. The usual stuff didn't work (restarting phone, clearing cache, force stop), so I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it.
When I tried to open the app again, I didn't get the update message loop. Though, it opened Chrome to take me to the sign-in page, despite Chrome not being my default browser. When I tried to sign in, my password wasn't working. I then saw the app/website was trying to sign me in with my email address as comcast.com, instead of what I actually used. I'm not sure why it did this, but once I set the correct email address, I was able to sign in and use the app without issue.
user_rrinbh, Thanks for sharing this. Is everything still working okay over the past 2 days?

I too have an older phone and the xfinity app won't run on it. I don't plan on purchasing a new phone just to use the xfinity service. Will COMCAST/XFINITY make backwards compatibility for us older phone users? And no, I am not interested in subscribing to xfinity cell service.
