Xfinity app stuck setting up new router

I have a new Netgear modem router I have set up and wifi working, but whenever I open the Xfinity app it says there was an error and to either sign out, or reinitialize the modem setup. I have to enter the Mac number and go through the process and choose a name and password (which I already set up through the routerlogin.net admin page), and then it says "Finishing setup..." "This may take a few minutes. "Dont leave the app or unplug the Gateway or you may need to start over." It spins the circle loading for like 30 minutes, then says fails and only offers to chat with an agent, or try again.
